CO ² fertilization with the CO ² Set
CO ² is the scientific formula for carbon dioxide and contains the most important nutrient for our aquarium plants-carbon. Long-term
plant growth and great plant variety can only be admired in the aquarium if there is a sufficient addition of CO ² . By adding CO ² one
could also kill two birds with one stone, since CO ² also fulfils an important double-function in the aquarium. It fertilizes plants with
CO ² , which is vital to them, ensuring magnificent plant growth (healthy plants return the favour by providing fish with essential
oxygen), but the addition of CO ² can also be used to adjust the den pH in the aquarium to a range that is ideal for ornamental fish.
In the case of the CO ² Sets 250 and 500, the aquarium is supplied with CO ² from steel cylinders (depot). Dupla offers steel cylinders
in the sizes 500 g and 2.000 g. The pressure, which, depending on the outside temperature, can be more than 64 bar, is regulated down
to an operating pressure of 1 bar by the CO ² Armatur Pro.
With the CO ² Set 250 for aquaria up to 250 l the CO ² is released into the water by means of tiny gas bubbles from the CO ²
atomiser. The dose can be regulated using the integrated bubble counter.
With the CO ² Set 500 for lager aquaria up to 500 l the CO ² via the CO ² Reactor 500 into the water. Water from a filter pump
bypass gushes into the reactor, swirls together with the inflowing CO ² gas via the cascade in the reactor and thereby increases the
effectiveness of the CO ² many times over.
The CO ² content in the aquarium is regulated by means of a continuous CO ² test which indicates the exact CO ² value in the water.
The CO ² Sets 250 and 500 each include a small bottle of Plant 24 nutrient combination. Experience shows that the commencing
CO ² fertilisation triggers a growth spurt in the plants which can quickly result in a deficiency of nutrients. According to the law of
the minimum of 1840, the best fertilizer is useless without addition of the complementing fertilizing substances in the correct ratio.
Plant 24 replenishes these consumed nutrients. To ensure optimum long-term plant growth in the aquarium, Plant 24 should be
used in combination with Plant basic and Root K. For aquascapers we recommend Iron 24, Potassium 24 and N/P 24, because this
combination of nutrients is adjusted specifically for the needs of aquascaping.
