Do not repeatedly recharge the battery after only a few
minutes of operation; this may result in a reduction of
operating time and battery efficiency.
The nickel-cadmium battery must be kept separate from the
natural environment and should not be disposed of as
normal domestic waste.
• Prior to disposal protect battery terminals with heavy
tape to prevent short-circuit.
If you anticipate long periods of non-use for the tool, it is
best to unplug the charger from its power source.
Auxiliary handle
• Use auxiliary handle supplied with the tool (loss of
control can cause personal injury).
Loosen the handle by turning to the left. Rotate the auxiliary
handle F (figure 1) and adapt to the working position with
figure 10. Make sure that the clamping band I of the
auxiliary handle remains in the groove. Afterwards tighten
the handle again by turning in clockwise direction.
DEPTH STOP (see figure 9)
For serial drills of same depth you have to put the depth
stop G in the auxiliary handle and to adjust the according to
your necessity.
Inserting the accessory (see figure 6)
• Before any work on the machine itself, remove the
battery.
Open the drill chuck C by turning until the tool can be
inserted. Insert the tool. Insert the tool as deep as possible
in the chuck
Firmly tighten the sleeve of the keyless chuck C by hand
until the locking action ("click") is no longer heard. This
automatically locks the chuck.
Rotate the sleeve in the reverse direction to remove the
tool.
Screwdriving (see figure 11)
Insert the screwdriver blade directly into the tool holder or
when using screwdriver bits, additionally use the universal
bit holder.
• Do not use bits with a damaged shank.
Starting operation
ON/OFF SWITCH (see figure 3)
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch A and keep it
depressed and to switch off the machine, release the
On/Off switch A.
STEPLESS SPEED CONTROL
The machine runs with variable speed between 0 and
maximum, depending on the pressure applied to the On/Off
switch A. Light pressure results in a low rotational speed
thus allowing smooth, controlled starts.
Do not strain the machine so heavily that it comes to a
standstill.
Attention: If the rotational direction switch B to the centre
position is not possible press the On/Off switch A.
GEAR SELECTION, MECHANICAL (see figure 8)
Two speed ranges can be pre-selected with the gear
selector E:
st
1
gear: Low rotational speed, high power, for screwdriving
and drilling large diameters and for tapping thread
nd
2
gear: High rotational speed, less power, for drilling
small diameters and for impact drilling
The gear setting can be changed while the machine is
running, however, not while under load. It is recommended
to carry out the switching while the machine is at a
standstill. If the gear selector E cannot be slid into the end
position while the machine is at a standstill, turn the chuck
somewhat or briefly press the On/Off switch A.
REVERSING THE ROTATIONAL DIRECTION
• Operate the rotational direction switch 5 only at a
standstill.
The rotational direction switch B is used to reverse the
rotational direction of the machine. However, this is not
possible with the On/Off switch A actuated.
Right Rotation: Press the rotational direction switch
through as figure 5 (normal operation: drilling, screwdriving,
etc.).
Left Rotation: Press the rotational direction switch through
as figure 5 (for loosening and unscrewing screws and nuts).
When not properly set in left/right position, switch A
can not be activated.
SETTING THE TORQUE (VARITORQUE) (figure 7).
Limits the amount of output torque delivered by the chuck
(15 clutch settings).
When turning in a screw, first try VariTorque position 1 and
increase until the desired depth has been reached.
Carry out a practical test to determine with which of the 15
settings of the torque setting ring D the screws are driven
flush into the material.
st
1
adjust, low setting, e. g., small screws, soft materials.
th
15
adjust, high setting, e. g., large screws, hard materials.
With the correct setting, the clutch disengages as soon as
the screw is driven flush into the material or the set torque
is reached.
Select a higher setting when driving out screws, or set to
the
"Drilling" symbol.
DRILLING AND IMPACT DRILLING
Drilling
Set the torque setting ring D to the "Drilling" symbol.
Hammer Drilling
Set the torque setting ring D to the "Hammer Drilling"
symbol.
Application device
Use the appropriate bits (see figure 11)
• Only use sharp bits
When drilling ferrous metals.
- pre-drill a smaller hole, when a large hole is required
- lubricate drill bit occasionally with oil
When turning in a screw at/near the cross cut end or an
edge of wood one should pre-drill a hole in order to avoid
cracking of the wood
For an optimal use of the tool a steady pressure on the
screw is required, especially while removing
When screwdriving in hard wood one should pre-drill a hole
Splinterfree drilling in wood (see figure 12)
Dustfree drilling in walls (see figure 13)
Dustfree drilling in ceilings (see figure 14)
Drilling in tiles without skidding (see figure 15)
