Preliminary steps
Remove the unit and all accessories from the packing. Please keep
the packing sections in a safe place in case they are needed at a
later date for transport.
By applying pressure to the sides, remove the transport safety
catches 14 (fig. 2). Then lower the platter into position and fit on the
platter mat. Insert the hinges 2 in the appropriate recesses (fig. 4).
Slide the cover 1 parallel to the position of the hinges 2 (opening
angle approximately 60*) until it locks in position. In this position, the
cover can be removed at any time.
Connection to the AC mains
The turntable must be connected to a mains voltage of 230 V/50-60
Hz or to 115 V/50-60 Hz in accordance with the voltage information
on the rating plate.
The unit can also be connected to the socket of appropriately fitted
amplifiers.
Connection to amplifier or receiver
Connect the audio cables to the phono-magnetic inputs of the
amplifier or receiver (black or red RCA-type plug = right channel,
white RCA-type plug = left channel).
Connect the single ground wire fitted with a terminal clip to the
ground connection on the rear of the amplifier.
If your stereo amplifier or receiver is equipped with 5-pole DIN
phono sockets, a special phono adapter (Dual part nr. 262483) is
required for connection of your turntable. This adapter cable can be
obtained as optional accessory from authorized Dual dealers.
Balancing the tonearm and setting the tracking
and antiskating force
1. Set the tracking force 4 to 0
v
and switch off the antiskating device 5: ` 1; 131.
. Turn the tonearm counterbalance 3 on the tonearm.
. Swing the tonearm inwards.
. Lower with the button 8 Lift. Hold the tonearm whilst doing so.
. Balance the tonearm precisely by turning the counter-balance.
The tonearm is balanced precisely when it pivots freely.
. Set the required tracking force for the cartridge used by turning

Automatic start, speed selection, stop
With button 9 or 10 select the platter speed of 33 rpm or 45 rpm, and
select the record size 6 17 or 30 cm by means of the rotary selector.
The quarz-stabilized speed is displayed by means of the LED onthe
appropriate button.
Remove the stylus guard by pulling it forwards and disengage the
tonearm. Depress the start button 11.
The tonearm is automatically lowered onto the record. At the end of
the record the tonearm is automatically returned to the tonearm post
and the unit switched off. You can also switch off the turntable by
depressing the stop button 12 or the button Lift 8 and returning the
tonearm to the tonearm post.
We recommend that the tonearm be engaged on the tonearm post
each time it is returned.
Manual start, cueing control
Position the tonearm over the required point on the record by hand.
Depress button Lift 8. The tonearm is lowered.
The tonearm can be raised at any position — even to interrupt play
briefly — with the button Lift 8. The platter continues to turning.
Faults
If malfunctions occur which may be caused by the mains supply,
disconnect the mains plug and then reinsert it.
When blocking the drive by hand, for example by stopping the
platter by hand, the protective circuit becomes effective and shuts
off the motor. This is indicated by the blinking LEDs in the platter-
speed controls 9 and 10. After about 10 seconds the motor restarts
again.
Changing and fitting the cartridge
A % inch cartridge with a net weight of 2.5 ... 8 g can be fitted in
place of the cartridge already fitted or on units without a cartridge.
The Dual range of accessories offers appropriate cartridges.
Loosen screw 13 and remove the head shell by pulling it forward.
Remove the cartridge by loosening the two securing screws. Pull off
the connection wire on the cartridge. Attach the new cartridge, at
first loosely, on the head shell. Secure the connection wires with the
connection pin on the cartridge.

Replace the head shell on the tonearm and secure screw 13. Cut
out the assembly instructions on page 2 of the operation instructions
and place them in between the tonearm bearing and the cartridge.
Now adjust the cartridge parallel to the head shell so that the stylus
is exactly on the line with a clearance of 211 mm.
Stylus
The stylus is subject to natural wear and tear during playing. We
therefore recommend regular checks, which should be carried out
after at least 300 playing hours in the case of diamond-tipped styli.
Your dealer will be happy to do this for you cost-free. Worn out or
damaged (chipped) styli damage records. Therefore, only use as
replacements the stylus types recommended in the technical data of
the cartridge. Other styli often cause audible reductions in quality
and increased wear to records. Remove the stylus by pulling it
diagonally downwards.
To fit a stylus in, follow the procedure in reverse order (fig. 3).
Electrical safety
The unit complies with the International Safety Regulations for radio
and related devices (IEC 65) and the EEC guidelines 76/499/EWG.
