Intended Purpose
The Millex
-FG Filter Unit (Sterile) is a medical device
®
intended for use as a syringe filter in direct patient
care and pharmacy admixture applications to sterilize
gases or low volume solutions that are not compatible
with standard membrane filters . Device is intended for
medical and/or laboratory professional use only.
Introduction
This filter is a bidirectionally supported sterilizing
filter for gases or liquids. Clinical benefits include the
removal of microorganisms, particles, and undissolved
powders larger than the membrane's rated pore size
from gaseous solutions to limit cross-contamination .
Aqueous solutions are blocked from filtration through
the hydrophobic membrane of the filter . This single-
use filter is non-pyrogenic and non-toxic . It consists
of a 0.2 μm hydrophobic Fluoropore™ membrane filter
sealed in a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) housing.
Chemical Compatibility
This filter is compatible with most gaseous solutions .
Compatibility of solutions should be tested before use.

WARNINGS
• Filter solutions with a temperature limit
of 45 °C (113 °F).
• Syringe filters are for manual use only;
do not use on automated systems .
• Not suitable for filtering high viscosity solutions
or blood .
• Do not filter solutions containing 5 mg or less of
active drug materials unless binding studies have
been performed .
• To ensure sterility, do not use this product if the
package is damaged .
• Use aseptic technique to maintain sterility removing
product from primary package .
• Do not use with syringes smaller than 10 mL because
pressures in excess of the maximum pressure rating
may be reached, potentially causing damage to the
filter and/or personal injury.
• Do not use for direct neuraxial applications which
may come in contact with cerebrospinal fluid .
• Do not use the same syringe filter to filter solutions
in both directions .
• Sudden loss of pressure could indicate failure
of the filter .
• Single use only; do not re-use or resterilize.
• Make sure to wet the filter membrane thoroughly
before injecting the solution; improperly wetted
filters can become airlocked .
• Not suitable for use with medical pressure
infusion equipment or gravity fed intravenous (IV)
administration sets .
• Discard appropriately after single use . See
"Disposal" below .
