When using the machine for the first time:
• Check the following:
• Does the voltage rating of the bench grinder
correspond to the power supply?
• Is an earthed mains power socket available?
• Are the power cord and plug in good
condition (solid, without fraying or other
damage)?
• Avoid the use of long extension cords. The ex-
tension cords you use must always be earthed.
• A grinding wheel is a brittle tool piece. The
stone is not resistant to knocks.
• Always grind on the front edge of the grinding
wheel, and never on the side of the grinding
wheel. Never fit a cracked grinding wheel.
Replace it immediately, as the high rotational
speed could cause the stone to fly apart, caus-
ing a serious accident.
• Always wear safety glasses when grinding.
• Never grind without the cover fitted over the
grinding wheel.
• Always fit the grinding wheel cover and tool rest
tightly, and with the correct clearance.
• Only use the grinding wheel for the work it was
designed for (for example sharpening tools). Do
not use the tool for heavy construction work.
• The following information must be available,
before you fit any new grinding wheel:
• Details about the manufacturer.
• Binding material.
• Dimensions.
• Permissible rotational speed.
• Never ream out the hole in a grinding wheel to a
larger diameter.
• The maximum rotational speed of the grinding
wheel should never be allowed to exceed the
maximum speed given for the wheel.
• Never use any grinding wheel that is damaged
or deformed.
• In order to be able to grind safely, the machine
must be firmly bolted to a workbench.
• Always keep the cord away from the moving
parts of the machine.
• In the case of locking, switch the machine off
immediately and remove the plug from the
mains.
• Compare the maximum number of revolutions
allowed of the accessories with the number of
revolutions of the machine.

• When you put the machine away the engine
must be switched off and moving parts must
have reached a standstill.
• Never attach an assembly spanner to your ma-
chine with a piece of string or anything similar.
• Never use the axle locking button if the machine
is operating.
• Make sure that the spring chuck diameter is the
same as the axle diameter of the accessory.
• Use a clamping device for securing the work
piece.
• Keep your hands away from the work piece.
1. Ensure that the bench grinder is always stable
and secure (e.g. fixed to a bench) and instruc-
tion how to fix the tool to a workbench or the
like.
2. The correct mounting of wheels and ensuring
that wheels are free of defects before use,
including instructions for performing a ring test
for cracks.
3. Adjust the spark arrestor and the work rest
frequently so as to compensate for wear of the
wheel.
4. Keep the distance between the spark arrestor/
work rest and the wheel as small as possible
and in any case not greater than 2 mm.
5. Replace the worn wheel when these gaps are
no longer able to be maintained.
6. Always use the tool with accessories on both
spindles in order to limit the risk of contact with
the rotating spindle.
7. Always use the guard, work rest, transparent
screen and spark arrestor as required for the
accessories.
8. For tools with a vertically adjustable or inclina-
ble work rest: instruction on how to properly ad-
just and secure the work rest angle in relation
to the wheel.
9. Always adjust the work rest so that the angle
between the work rest and the tangent of the
accessory is always greater than 85°.
Whenever using the machine
• Check that the switch is NOT in the 'ON/1'
position before connecting the machine to the
power supply.
• Always keep the power cord out of the way from
the moving parts of the machine.
