After clicking the second "Finish" button, the USB driver software is installed and

assigns a Virtual COM Port to the USB interface. Windows
assigns COM Ports in number sequence after previous assignments. For
example, if COM3 and COM4 have been previously assigned, the Virtual COM
Port for the new USB interface (which is also named USB Serial Port in Windows
will be associated with COM5.
3.2 Finding USB Serial Port Information
Information on the USB Serial Port can be found by going to the control panel and
clicking on "SYSTEM". A System Properties window will come up. Click the
"Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button to bring up the Device
Manager window.
The USB Serial Port can be found under Ports (COM & LPT) in the Device Manger
window. In the case of the picture shown below, the Device Manger window shows the
COM port number of the USB Serial Port as COM3. The COM port number shown in
this window is the COM port number the PC application will use to communicate with
balance.
