12 Overload protection
If the motor of the drilling machine in subjected to
excessive load for any length of time the integral
thermal overload trip will interrupt the power
supply and thus bring the machine to a standstill.
You should then wait until the motor has cooled to
its normal operating temperature. The machine
can then be switched on again.
13 Undervoltage release
If, while working with the machine, the power
supply is interrupted
- through power failure or
- through the plug being pulled from the socket
outlet
the motor will not start again automatically when
power is restored but only when the start button is
pressed once again.
14 Electronic speed control
and speed stabilization
By means of the control knob (5) the spindle speed
can be set to the speed values stated on the label
behind the control knob.
The chart (4) indicates the recommended
maximum drill-bit diameters for drilling with these
speeds in steel, aluminium and softwood.
Feedback from the integraltacho-generator holds
the speed constant between no load and rated
load so that there is no need for the user to
readjust the speed as load is applied.
15 Maintenance, cleaning
Clean, check and perform maintenance work on
the machine and guard devices regularly.
Disconnect the mains plug before starting any
setting, maintenance or repair work.
15.1 Machine shutdown caused by heavy
contamination of the fork light barrier
Heavy contamination on the fork light barrier can
cause the machine to shut down. In this case, the
fork light barrier must be cleaned.
- Pull the mains plug out of the socket.
- Turn the rotary knob (5) to the 3000 rpm position,
loosen the clamping screw on the side of the
rotary knob (5) and pull the rotary knob (5)
forwards.
10
- Unscrew the retaining screw (top of the cover
hood) and remove the cover hood.
- Clean the fork light barrier (11) with a soft brush,
for example.
- Assemble again in reverse order.
11
16 Lubrication
The column of the drilling machine should always
be well greased.
If the machine is used frequently, a little machine
oil should be applied to the spindle sleeve from
time to time while the spindle is held in its lower-
most position by means of the feed lever (6).
17 To remove the cover
While working with the drilling machine the cover
of the upper part need not be removed.
If ever it has to be removed proceed as follows:
- Pull the plug from the socket outlet,
- loosen the grub screw in control knob (3) and
withdraw the knob;
then
- undo the slotted securing nut on top of the cover
and
- withdraw the cover.
