Do not connect the machine to the mains electricity supply by a multi-socket adapter or an
extension lead.
All installation works must strictly comply with current local and national safety regulations.
On the lower part of the machine there's a terminal for the equipotential connection to other
equipment, marked with the symbol
5. Operating Instructions
Never operate the machine with wet hands!
Danger of burning and scalding! The liquids and steam are very hot! Do not approximate your
face and hands to the zone above the steam wands.
Do not touch the groups, the metal parts of the porta-filter and the steam wands because they
are very hot!
Display models (DSP): Please consult the technical manual about technical programming and
monitoring.
5.1.
Getting started
First set up the water supply, only then use the ON/OFF switch in order to switch the machine on.
During the first water filling of the boiler, the red signal light is blinking. When the water has
reached the minimum level, the red signal light turns off. The water filling continues until the
water level in the boiler has reached the maximum level. When the maximum level has been
reached, the machine automatically stops the water filling and starts the heating. During the
heating process, the orange signal light turns on.
The machine automatically refills the boiler in order to maintain the preset water levels. Every
time the water filling is resumed, the red signal light blinks.
A constant lighting of the red signal light (without blinking) is an alarm sign indicating an error
during the water filling process. Please consult the chapter "Alerts"
1. Open the water tap in order to make sure the machine is supplied with water.
2. Press the main switch ON/OFF on the right front of the machine.
3. Checking the working parameters:
AUTOMATIC AND SEMI-AUTOMATIC MODELS
During the heating process, the orange signal light blinks. When the orange signal light turns off, the
pressure in the boiler should be +/- 1bar (+/- 0,1 MPa). The boiler pressure can be adjusted using
the machine's pressostat.
DSP MODELS
The DSP models feature a static relay. You can adjust the boiler temperature, not its pressure.
When the Orange signal light turns off after heating, the boiler should be at ± 117ºC. Please refer to
the Technical Programming in the technical manual.
Pump pressure
In all models, the manometer shows the pump pressure at ± 9 bar (± 0,9 MPa) whenever the pump
is active. When the pump is not working, the manometer shows the water net pressure. The pump
pressure can be adjusted while the pump is working by turning the adjusting screw on the pump
head.
5.2.
Programming of portions (CV models)
The CV models with flowmeter for volumetric control allow to program each drink.
Always start the programming on the first (leftmost) group of the machine. The settings on the
first group are automatically transferred to the other groups. However, you may program each
group separately.
1. Fill the porta-filter with the desired amount of ground coffee and put it in the group.
