Safety instructions
Warning
Make sure you are familiar with the operating instructions before
you use this motor.
This motor, its attachments and accessories must only be used
for the purpose for which they were designed.
For product liability and safety reasons any modification to the
motor or its accessories, which may have an influence on the
product liability, must be agreed upon by the technical authority
of the manufacturer.
To prevent personal injury and long term risks:
– If the motor is to be used in explosive environment filter/si-
lencers must be installed at the motor outlet ports.
Silencers are recommended also for other applications to reduce
noice exposure.
– Before any adjustment operation – disconnect the motor from
the air line.
– Mind your hands, hair and clothing – always keep well
away from rotating parts.

WARNING
Polymer hazard
The vanes in this product contain PTFE (a synthetic
fluoropolymer). Due to wear, PTFE particles might
be present inside the product. If heated PTFE can
produce fumes which may cause polymer fume fever
with flu-like symptoms, especially when smoking
contaminated tobacco.
Health and Safety recommendations for PTFE must
be followed when handling vanes and other compon-
ents:
– Do not smoke when servicing this
product
– PTFE-particles must not come in con-
tact with open fire, glow or heat
– Motor components must be washed
with cleaning fluid and not blown clear
with an air line
– Wash your hands before commencing
any other activity

Installation
Installation
Setting up, see figure in Service instructions.
The non-reversible air motor may be operated by a simple
shut-off valve. One hose or pipe connects the motor and valve.
The reversible air motor may be operated by a 5-port valve.
Two hoses or pipes connect valve with the motor inlet ports.
If the motor is to be used in explosive environment filter/si-
lencers must be installed at the motor outlet ports.
A
A damping of the motor sound is obtained by connecting a si-
lencer to the motor exhaust port. Further silencing is obtained
by leading away the exhaust by a hose to a separate exhaust
chamber.
Air quality
– For optimum performance and maximum machine life we re-
commend use of compressed air with a dew point between
+2°C and +10°C. Installation of a refrigeration-type air dryer
is recommended.
– Use a separate air filter to remove solid particles larger than
30 microns and more than 90 % of water, installed as close as
possible to the machine and prior to any other air preparation
unit. Blow out the hose before connecting.
– The compressed air must contain a small quantity of oil. We
strongly recommend that you install a oil-fog lubricator to be
set normally at 3-4 drops(50mm
cycle running tools, or a single-point lubricator for short cycle
running tools.
– Regarding lubrication free tools it is, at the customers option,
no disadvantage if the compressed air contains a small quantity
of oil as supplied from a lubricator. An exception is turbine
tools that should be kept oil free. (For further information please
see Air Line Accessories in our main catalogue.)
Compressed air connection
– The machine is designed for a working pressure (e) of 6–7 bar
= 600–700 kPa = 87–102 psi.
– Blow out the hose before connecting.
– Recommended hose size is 10 mm (3/8").
Maintenance
Overhaul
The air motor must be taken out of service for inspection as soon
as any sign of fault occurs. The service intervals vary depending
on the speed of the motor and the quality of the air.
Lubrication
Planetary gears, ball- and needle bearings and seal ring should be
lubricated with grease in conjunction with the regular overhaul of
the motor. Molykote BR2 Plus gives long intervals between lub-
rications.
