5.5 Before you send in the appliance
WARNING:
Risk of injury! Never use a faulty appliance! Always switch off the appli-
ance and disconnect it from the mains before starting troubleshooting

Check the exhaust filter every time you clean the motor protection filter
chapter 5.2, „Cleaning dust bin and motor protection filter" and clean it if
it is dirty.
1. Switch off the appliance,
2. Push the release catch of the exhaust filter cover down (Fig. 12/A) and
open the exhaust filter cover.
3. Remove the exhaust filter (Fig. 12/B).
4. Hold the dust bin over a dustbin.
5. Remove any residual dust by tapping. If the exhaust filter is still dirty,
thoroughly rinse it by hand until all dirt is removed.
ATTENTION:
The filter is washable, but it may not be cleaned in dishwashers or wash-
ing machines. Also, do not use detergents or brushes with hard bristles

to clean them. Let the filter dry for approx. 24 hours at room temperature
after washing it. Only put it back in place when it is completely dry.
6. If the exhaust filter is damaged, replace it ( chapter 5.4, „Spare parts
and accessories").
7. Put the exhaust filter holder with the freshly fitted filter back into its
bracket (Fig. 13/A).
8. Attach the exhaust filter cover at the bottom side first (Fig. 13/B) before
folding it up firmly. It will audibly snap into place.
