event of this, the guarantee will be invalidated
National standards and safety regulations must be observed.
2. Fundamental safety instructions
Before using the product, test it to ensure that is functioning correctly. If there are any doubts about whether
the product is functioning correctly, it must not be used.
3. Use and intended purpose
The drum opener is particularly suitable for use when there are a variety of points at which small numbers of
200 l drums have to be opened. The drum opener is a device for cutting open the top or bottom panels of
drums. The cutting mechansism will cut through even slightly slightly dented areas, which means that there is
no need for dents to be taken out of the rim of the drum beforehand. Where there is fairly serious deformation
however, the kinks do have to be flattened out.
4. Specifications
See type label.
5. Operation
Preparation
1.
Put the device on the drum. To do this, turn the T-handle to the left to increase the distance between the
cutter wheel and the drive roller. When putting the device on, ensure that the cutting edge of the cutter
wheel is not damaged by pushing against the drum. The rim rollers must lie on the drum rim, with the
drum rim lying between the sides of the rim rollers. The cutter wheel must be located on the inside of
the drum. The guide rollers support the device on the rim of the drum.
2.
Check the device for correct cutting height. The height is set in the factory, in exceptional cases, in spite
of this the drum opener may possibly have to be reset for a drum (see adjusting cutting height). The
proper seating of the cutter wheel should be checked regularly during operation (see cutter wheel
setting).
3.
Turn T-handle to the right, until the cutter wheel touches the drum rim. Then make one further turn to
start cutting.
Starting the drum opener
The power switch must be in the "OFF" position.
1.
2.
Connect the power cable of the device to an extension cable. Take care that the cable does not get into
the cutter mechanism.
Set power switch to "ON"
3.
4.
Only switch on the power when needed!
Operation
1.
After each full circumference of the drum, turn the T-handle ½ to 1 turn to the right, without switching off
the drum opener. Do not overload the motor by overtightening.
2.
Continue cutting until the first layer of steel in the lid is cut through. You can tell this by the sound of
breaking metal.
Set power switch to "OFF". Disconnect cable and smooth out.
3.
4.
Open the drum opener by turning the T-handle to the left. If the cutter wheel jams in the lid, this can be
released by gently tapping the T-handle inwards with the hand.
5.
Remove drum opener from the drum
6.
Lightly tap the drum lid with a wooden hammer, until it tips or falls on the floor
7.
The motor is only designed to operate for short intermittent periods. The motor may overheat and be
damaged by continuous use for long periods. For this reason after opening 5 drums leave the motor to
cool for 15 minutes!
