Operation
5.1
Before Use
Before connecting the battery charger, read the operating
instructions carefully.
In addition, observe the vehicle manufacturer's instructions for a
permanently connected battery. Turn off the ignition.
Clean the battery terminals. Ensure that your eyes do not come in
contact with the dirt in the process.
Ensure sufficient ventilation.
5.2
Connection
1.
Before starting the charging or trickle charging, first disconnect the negative terminal connecting
cable (black) of the vehicle from the negative terminal of the battery. The negative terminal of the
battery is usually connected to the vehicle's chassis.
2.
Next, disconnect the positive terminal connecting cable (red) of the vehicle from the positive
terminal of the battery.
3.
Make sure the battery charger is not yet connected to the mains.
4.
Clamp the positive terminal clamp (red) of the charger to the positive terminal on the battery.
5.
Clamp the negative terminal clamp (black) of the charger to the negative terminal on the battery.
6.
Connect the power cable of the battery charger to the mains.
5.3
Automatic Battery Recognition
The charger automatically recognizes the connected battery type.
The battery is faulty or connected wrongly when the error LED burns. Please replace the battery or check
the connection.
5.4
Mode Selection
Normal/Fast Charging Mode
Press the mode button to select the normal (12 V @ 0.9 A) or fast (12 V @ 3.8 A or 6 V @ 3.8 A)
charging mode.
We recommend charging your battery in the normal charging mode and using the fast mode only in case
of emergency.
Winter/AGM Mode
Press the mode button until the COLD/AGM LED burns. Select this mode to charge your battery in a low
ambient temperature or to charge AGM-batteries.
Recovery Mode
Press the mode button until the RECOVER LED burns. Select this mode to recover excessively depleted
12 V batteries.
Trickle Charging Mode
The charger is equipped with an automatic trickle-charging mode. A fully charged battery can be kept at
optimum charging level for a long period.
5.5
Disconnection
1.
Disconnect the battery charger from the power supply.
2.
Remove the negative terminal clamp (black) of the charger from the negative terminal on the
battery.
3.
Remove the positive terminal clamp (red) of the charger from the positive terminal on the battery.
