GB.1 Introduction
Your new Tennant V5 Vacuum Cleaning Machine is
designed for the professional daily maintenance of carpets.
If the safety precautions and maintenance instructions
are strictly adhered to, you will enjoy many years of
trouble free operation. A provision is that this manual is
carefully studied and that all operators read the manual.
In the unlikely event of technical defects or faults then
please contact your nearest Tennant dealer.
The appliance may only be used by persons who have
read the instructions and have been authorized to
operate the appliance. The
appliance may not be used by unauthorized persons.
This symbol will be used to remind the operator
to pay attention to operations that may cause injury,
including death, to the operator or to other people or
animals nearby.
Furthermore, the operations indicated by this symbol
may cause damages, even irreparable ones, to the
suction device.
GB.2 Intended use
The Tennant V5 Vacuum Cleaning machine is designed for
the vacuuming of non-explosive dusts. This equipment is
suitable for collective use, as for example in hotels, schools,
hospitals, industries, shops, offi ces and houses.
Attention! INSTRUCTIONS TO BE STRICTLY
FOLLOWED
WARNING: these machines are not designed for
picking up health endangering dusts (i.e. fi replace
ash) or infl ammable/explosive substances.
WARNING: Fire or Explosion Hazard. Never use this
machine with fl ammable liquids or near fl ammable
liquids, vapors or combustible dusts.
This machine can not work without cartridge fi lter
and paper bag.
GB.2.1 Unauthorized Modifi cations
We would like to point out that only original Tennant parts
and accessories are to be used. Failure to adhere to
these recommendations could result in machine failure
and damage that will not be covered by the Tennant
guarantee. Damaged equipment could also result in
injury to persons.
The manufacturer, its distributors and agents cannot
be held responsible at all for any damage or injury

whatsoever, caused by the improper use of the appliance,
unauthorized use, unauthorized modifi cations or non-
original spares.
GB.3 Safety Precautions
The following measures have been included in the
design and construction of the Tennant V5
Vacuum Cleaning Machine for the safety of the
operator:
GB.3.1 Safety Precautions - Mechanical
All moving parts (fan and motor) are well protected and
can only be removed with the correct tools.
Risk
In order to avoid injury to persons do not remove
any covers while the motor is running!
GB.3.2 Safety Precautions - Electric
All electric parts are thoroughly secured and protected
and can only be removed with the correct tools. They
conform to Class 2, EN 60335.
Other Risk
To avoid injury by electric shock, do not attempt to
remove or access any electric parts while the motor
is running!
General Safety Instructions for Electrical Appliances
* Always remove the plug from the socket before
carrying out any maintenance or service repair to
the machine or whenever the machine remains
unattended or can be handled by children or people
not conscious of their actions.
* Prevent moisture/water near the live electrical parts
(plugs, switches, electric motors, cables etc.) moisture/
water can conduct power to persons close to the
appliance and cause an electric shock!
* Electrical power is dangerous. Do not make body
contact with badly insulated or damaged electric
cables.
* The testing, repair or maintenance of the appliance
must be carried out by the Tennant authorized servicing
company or a properly instructed person.
* Never immerse the machine in water for cleaning
nor use pressure water jets to wash it.
* The equipment should be correctly assembled
before use.
* Ensure that power socket used is correct for the
machine plug.
* Check the voltage indicated on the rating plate is
the same as the supply voltage.
* The appliance may not be opened while running!
* The main supply cable should not be used to pull
or lift the machine.
