Precautions and safety measures
1.1.1. Before use
- This instrument was designed for use indoors in an environment with a degree of
pollution 2, altitude > 2000 m, temperature between 0°C and 45°C, and relative
humidity 80 % up to 31°C.
- It can be used in category ΙΙΙ installations, for voltages never exceeding 300 V with
respect to the earth.
- Definition of installation categories according to IEC standard 664 :
CAT I :
CAT I circuits are protected by devices limiting transient overvoltages to a
low level.
Example : protected electronic circuits
CAT II :
CAT II circuits are power supply circuits for domestic or similar appliances
that may include transient overvoltages of average value.
Example : power supply for household appliances and portable tools
CAT III :
CAT III circuits are for the power supply of high power appliances that may
draw large transient overvoltages.
Example : power supply of industrial machines or appliances
CAT IV :
CAT IV circuits may have very high transient overvoltages.
Example : energy arrival
•
The user should respect normal safety rules when he uses the megohmmeter, in
order to :
protect himself against dangers due to electrical current,
protect the megohmmeter against any false maneuvers.
•
The cables and connection accessories used must satisfy IEC standard 1010-2-031
+ A2 and must be designed for a rated voltage and overvoltage category at least
equal to the values for the circuits on which the measurements are made.
This instrument outputs a DC voltage of 500 V on the 200 M
Never touch the probe tip when the probe is activated.
