Important: The measured surface should
be planed in order to obtain the most exact
measurement possible. If rough-cut wood
with a very rough surface is measured, the
display value may be too low and have to
be corrected. If the actual dry density of the
wood to be measured differs from the mean
dry density for the wood group, it must be
corrected.
4.2.4 General information
about the measurement
Take advantage of non-destructive wood
moisture measurement by measuring your
wood at more than a single point.
We recommend measuring the specimen at
as many positions as possible in order to ob-
tain a meaningful mean value. The wood is
only absolutely evenly dry or humid in a few
cases. With this measuring method, you have
the capability of determining a mean value of
your specimen in a matter of seconds. Simi-
larly, it is possible to find humid or dry areas.
For the sake of measuring accuracy, we rec-
ommend measuring longitudinally in the direc-
tion of the fibre.
Note: A change in location from colt to warm
ambient air can cause formation of conden-
sate on the circuit board or sensor plate of
