TROUBLESHOOTING
Before making a request for repairs, check for trouble by yourself. If any abnormality is found, control your machine according to the description
of this manual. Never tamper or dismount any part contrary to the description. For repairs, contact Authorized Service Center or local dealership.
State of abnormality
Engine does not start.
Engine stops soon.
Engine speed does not increase.
Metal blade does not rotate.
Stop engine immediately.
Main unit vibrates abnormally.
Stop engine immediately.
Metal blade does not stop immediately.
Stop engine immediately.
Engine does not stop.
Run engine at idling, and set choke lever
to CLOSE.
• When the engine does not start after warm-up operation:
If there is no abnormality found for the check items, open the throttle by about 1/3 and start the engine.
• If there are abnormality other than this chart, contact Authorized Service Center.
Probable cause (malfunction)
I-O switch is set to STOP.
Failure to operate primer pump.
Low pulling speed of starter rope.
Lack of fuel.
Incorrect choke position.
Clogged fuel filter.
Bent or blocked fuel tube.
Deteriorated fuel.
Excessive suction of fuel.
Detached plug cap.
Contaminated spark plug.
Abnormal clearance of spark plug.
Abnormality of spark plug.
Abnormal carburetor.
Starter rope cannot be pulled, or no
compression is felt.
Abnormal drive/electric system. (I-O switch
fault, wiring fault, connector fault, etc.)
Insufficient warm-up.
Choke lever is set to "CLOSE" although
engine is warmed up.
Low idle speed.
Clogged fuel filter.
Contaminated or clogged air cleaner.
Abnormal carburetor.
Exhaust muffler fault. (clogged, etc.)
Abnormal drive/electric system.
Loosened metal blade-tightening nut.
Twigs caught by metal blade or dispersion-
preventing cover.
Abnormal drive system.
Broken, bent or worn metal blade.
Loosened metal blade-tightening nut.
Shifted convex part of metal blade and metal
blade support fitting.
Abnormal drive system.
High idle speed.
Detached throttle wire.
Abnormal drive system.
Detached connector.
Abnormal electric system.

Remedy
Set the I-O switch to START.
Push 7 to 10 times.
Pull strongly.
Feed fuel.
Set to "CLOSE" (cold start).
Set to "OPEN" (warm start).
Replace.
Straighten or replace fuel tube.
Deteriorated fuel makes starting more difficult.
Replace with new fuel. (Recommended
replacement: 1 month)
Set throttle lever from medium speed to high
speed, and pull starter handle until engine
starts. Once engine starts, cutting tool
starts rotating. Pay full attention to cutting
tool.
If engine will not start still, remove spark plug,
dry the electrode, and reassemble them as
they originally are. Then, start as specified.
Attach securely.
Clean.
Adjust clearance.
Replace.
Make request for inspection and maintenance.

Perform warm-up operation.
Set to "OPEN".
Adjust idle speed.
Replace.
