Instructions for use and maintenance SATA air star C
4. Manner of action of the air-cleaning unit with the activated-carbon
adsorber and waistbelt unit without activated-carbon adsorber
The service life of the activated-carbon cartridge and the quality of the
respiratory air depends primarily upon the level of precleaning of the
supplied compressed air. For this purpose it is necessary to interpose
the SATA filter 444 with condensate drain. This device filters nearly
all water and dust particles out of the compressed air. The fine filter
cartridge must be exchanged (change every 6 months at the latest;
see Operating Instructions SATA filter 400) when the pressure difference
between the manometer mounted on the SATA filter 444 (Art. No. 92296)
is larger than 1 bar.
An activated charcoal filter (D) is included for further
removal of oil vapors from the breathing air. The SATA
filter 464 (Art. No. 92247) and the SATA filter 494 (Art.
No. 92338) should regularly be maintained and tested
for perfect function. The activated charcoal filter
cartridge should be changed every 3 months in order
to avoid saturation.
The time indicator for a regular filter change is part of the scope
of delivery of each filter and each exchange filter cartridge!
For standard version, air cleaning unit 55798
Once the service life has expired (approx. 3 months), see date clock on
protective cage, the activated charcoal cartridge has to be exchanged.
Just turn protective cage to the left and remove. Unscrew transparent
PVC bell and install new activated charcoal cartridge (exchange every
three months). Put included date clock on protective cage. The control
valve for the volumentric air flow rate is designed in such a manner that,
at a minimum operating pressure of 4 bar without compressed-air unit,
approx. 150 Nl/min cleaned air is supplied to the half-mask respirator
(pressure indication still within the green area). The volumentric air flow
rate can be increased to over 300Nl/min by opening the control valve
(position -H-).
- With the alternative version, industrial belt unit 58941
When the activated charcoal filter cartridge has become saturated, uns-
crew the filter tube on the SATA filter 464, unscrew the filter cartridge, and
insert a new filter cartridge in reversed sequence (change interval every
3 months). Unscrew the viewing window, remove the old indicator strip
and insert a new one. The control valve for the volumentric air flow rate
is designed in such a manner that, at a minimum operating pressure of
4 bar, approx 150 Nl/min cleaned air is supplied to the half mask respi-
rator. The volumentric air flow rate can be increased to over 300 Nl/min
by opening the control valve (position -G-).
