5. Before operation

Before each time you use this device, make sure that it
is in proper operating condition and that the cutting line
has the correct length:
1. Make sure that the switch is in OFF position and
disconnect the cable from the power supply.
2. Attention: Remove the cover (X) of the line cutter
(Fig. 1).
3. Check the general condition of the device. Examine the
protection cover, switch, power cable and extension
cable. Check the device for loose screws, improper
alignment and cohesion of moving parts, improper
assembly, broken parts, and with respect to any
other factors that might affect the safe operation of
the device. If unusual sounds or vibrations should
occur during operation immediately switch off the line
trimmer and correct the problem. Do not use defective
devices and mark defective devices with a „DO NOT
USE" sign.
4. Make sure you stand on level ground and have a
safe stand.
5. Verify that the line ends at the outer edge of the
protection cover or reaches beyond it.
6. Should the line be too short pull the nylon line and
concurrently push the spool button until the line
reaches to the outer edge of the protection cover (fig.
4). Pull the second line, too, until it reaches to the
outer edge of the protection cover.
WARNING: For reasons of your own safety, avoid
any contact with the line cutter (5) attached to the
protection cover when adjusting the length of the
cutting line. It is extremely sharp. Keep your hands
away from the area where the cutter is located.
6. Assembly
Assembling the trimmer
• Make sure that the switch is in OFF position and
disconnect the mains cable from the power supply.
• For space-saving during transportation, the trimmer is
disassembled in 2 parts. Put the upper and lower part
of the trimmer together and slide both parts together as
far as it will go (Fig. 1). This will firmly lock the two parts
of the trimmer. Afterwards, the trimmer should never be
disassembled again.
Attention: When assembling the two parts ft the
trimmer, make sure not to pinch or otherwise
damage the cable!
Mounting the protection cover
Put the protection cover on the motor housing as shown
in Fig. 3. Then turn the protection cover anticlockwise by
ca. 5° as far as it will go. After this, screw in the included
screw to fasten the protection cover.
Attention: Take care of the line cutter during as-
sembly. The cutter is sharp and may cause injury.
Attention: It is forbidden to operate the trimmer
without the protection cover in place!
This is not only very dangerous because of the
resulting hazard of injury, but will also lead to you
loosing your warranty.
7. Connecting the trimmer
The machine can only be used on single-phase AC
current. It is double-insulated in accordance with Class II
VDE 0700 and EEC 20. Before using the trimmer, ensure
that the mains voltage is the same as the operating
voltage shown on the rating plate.
Wires of extension cord must have the following mini-
mum cross sectional area:
• Connect trimmer's plug to extension cord coupling.
• Make a loop in the extension cord, push it through the
opening in the handle and hook over the lug (strain

of the handle.
