INTENDED USE
The press tool as only suitable for use with press jaws or
intermediate jaws and press clamps, which are manufactured by
Novopress or which have been approved as suitable by Novopress
in agreement with the system provider.
The tool, press jaws and press clamps are used exclusively for the
crimping of pipes and fittings, for which the corresponding press
jaws and press clamps are designed.
Any other use or improper use is deemed to be non-designated.
Novopress is not liable for any resulting consequences or damage,
for damage to the press jaws or press clamps of other
manufacturers which may be used or for damage caused by these
components.
Designated use also includes observation the operating manual,
conformance with inspection and maintenance conditions as well
as observation of all relevant safety regulations.
3.
Mode of operation
The EFP2 press tool operates electromechanically. A safety clutch
is employed to apply force to the piston rod.
The safety clutch disengages out once maximum pressing force is
reached. The tool features an automatic press mechanism. This
ensures that the correct pressing force is applied at all times. For
safety reasons, the automatic press mechanism only starts up once
pressing force has reached 20%. The pressing process takes place
automatically and cannot be interrupted once started. In the range
up to 20%, the pressing process can be interrupted at any time by
releasing the clutch lever.
The press tool is equipped with a rotating press head. The press
head operates in any position. Turn the press head by holding the
tool handle and turning the front part of the cylinder (Z). The press
head can only be set before pressing and cannot be turned once
pressing is in progress.
4.
STARTING
Fit press jaw/intermediate jaw into press tool as follows:
4.1
Turn lever (B) as shown in Figure 4.1 and pull out pin.
4.2
Fit press jaw/intermediate jaw into press tool, press pin in as far as
it will go and turn lever (B) as shown in Figure 4.2.
NEVER HOLD THE PRESS TOOL AROUND THE PRESSING
ZONE

PRESSING
5.1
Check whether nominal size of press fitting matches nominal size
of press jaw/press loop.
5.2
Fit press jaw/press loop onto press fitting as described by press
jaw/press loop manufacturer. (Refer to press jaw/press loop
operating instructions).
Position intermediate jaw against press loop as described by press-
loop manufacturer.
5.3
Press and hold clutch level (L) until safety clutch disengages.
5.4
Release intermediate jaw from press loop.
5.5
Detach press jaw/press loop from press fitting.
5.6
You may carry out 200 consecutive pressings. Then allow press
tool to cool down for 30 minutes at room temperature (20 o C).
6.
CLEANING AND LUBRICATION
NOTE:
Before carrying out any repair and
maintenance work observe safely warnings
and always disconnect mains plug.
Regularly or when soiled:
Regularly clean the press tool's roller drive (R) and retaining pin
(B). Remove dirt with a brush or blow air. Then lubricate roller drive
(R), its guide (F) and retaining pin (B) with grease or machine oil.
Top up transmission grease after every 2500 pressings or every six
months.
To top up grease, remove the yellow screw from the transmission
flange and add 20 to 40 grams of NOVOPRESS special
transmission grease P00. (One tube of NOVOPRESS special
transmission grease P00, approx. 40 grams, order no. 3627.)
7.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
NOTE:
Before carrying out any repair and
maintenance work observe safety warnings
and always disconnect mains plug.
We recommend our authorised NOVOPRESS workshops for repair
and maintenance work.
The tool must be serviced by a qualified technician only!
The next recommended date for servicing is shown on the press
tool.
7.1
Regularly:
Check mains connection leads, including the plug and extension
cable, for signs of external damage and have them repaired if
necessary.
7.2
Every 6 months:
- Inspection to VBG 4, DIN VDE 0701-1 and DIN VDE 0702-1 for
Class II electric power tools by a qualified electrician, an authorised
workshop or Novopress Neuss.
- If the carbon brushes are shorter than 7 mm, they must be
renewed.
After fitting new carbon brushes, run the electric motor for 10 to 15
minutes in an off-load state.
Only use NOVOPRESS carbon brushes, order no. 12016.
7.3
Have the press tool inspected every year by an authorised
NOVOPRESS workshop.
(Also see warranty conditions for new equipment)
7.4
Use GENUINE NOVOPRESS REPLACEMENT PARTS ONLY.
7.5
Always submit the press tool for repair in its case.
