Initial operation

Clean the inside of the kettle thoroughly before using it for the first time. To do
this, open the lid as shown in the picture.
A strainer in the pouring spout ensures that large pieces of limescale are filtered
out when pouring.
The part of the connection cable which is not required can be wound up in the
base unit.
Connect the mains plug to an earthed socket.
Fill with as much water as needed to be able to see the level on the water level
indicator, although do not go above the Max mark. Close the lid. Only in this way
will the automatic boil-stop function work reliably.
Place the kettle in any position on the base unit. Only after this has been done
can you press downwards on the on/off switch under the handle.
The on/off switch only functions when the kettle is standing on the base unit.
Do not use the first quantity of boiled water for food preparation.

Automatic switch-off

Shortly after the water has started to boil, the automatic switch-off function
will shut down the kettle automatically. If the kettle is filled with only a small
quantity of water, the switch-off period will be increased.
If you require warm but not boiling water, the heating process can be interrup-
ted at any time by pressing the ON switch. The appliance will then shut down
automatically as soon as the kettle is removed from the base.
For functional reasons, a small amount of condensed water may run out through
the openings at the bottom of the handle and onto the rim of the base. This is
due to technical reasons and does not impair the safety of the appliance.

Safety system

If the kettle is accidentally operated without water, a thermostat protects the
kettle from overheating by switching off the appliance.
Make sure to allow the kettle to cool down before filling with water.
If the first thermostat should fail due to misuse, an additional temperature limiter
offers reliable protection.

Cleaning and maintenance

Disconnect the appliance from the mains and allow it to cool down. Never
immerse the appliance in water; simply wipe it over using a damp cloth with a
drop of washing-up liquid and then rub dry.
Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
The bottom of the kettle is made of stainless steel. If you notice rust stains all the
same, these are only deposits sticking to the surface. Remove these immediately
with a cleaning agent for stainless steel.
The mesh filter in the spout can be pulled off to clean when the lid is open. To re-
move, press up the top lug. When inserting, place the mesh filter centrally against
the bar and then latch home to the front.
