Maintenance
and cleaning
• Never use harsh or corrosive cleaning
agents or sharp objects (such as
knives or hard brushes) when
cleaning.
• Before cleaning, make sure that the
appliance is not connected to the
power supply and that it has cooled
down.
• Never use corrosive or scouring
cleaning agents or sharp objects
(such as knives or hard brushes) to
clean the appliance.
• Clean the exterior of the toaster with the
special microfibre cloth supplied with the
appliance. Do not moisten the cloth.
• Never immerse the appliance in water.
• Never put the appliance in a dishwasher.
• Make sure that the interior of the
appliance does not become damp.
Descaling
See Figure 3.
Never use ammonia or other products
to descale the appliance. These can be
injurious to your health. Use solely a
vinegar solution, or special descaling
agents available from retailers.
1 Remove the descaling filter by pulling it
upwards out of its holder in the jug.
2 Clean the filter under running water, or
in vinegar. Never remove the filter
whilst the jug is still hot.
3 Fit the descaling filter in the jug, making
sure that it clicks into place.
Lime will be deposited in the appliance at a
rate depending on the hardness of the

water. For this reason the appliance must
be descaled at regular intervals.
1 Fill the jug with a vinegar solution to the
MAX level, and bring to the boil.
2 Leave the jug with the vinegar solution
to stand for a couple of hours.
3 Empty the jug, fill with clean water to
the MAX level, and bring to the boil.
Empty the jug. Repeat this process
twice.
4 Finally, rinse the jug with clean cold
water to remove all scale residues and
any other fouling.

Electricity and heat
• Verify that the mains voltage is the
same as that indicated on the type
plate on the appliance before use.
• Plug the appliance into an earthed
wall socket.
