Safety information
These operating instructions contain
important information that must be heeded
to enable the GUTMANN fan to be operated
without danger or malfunctions. Read the
operating instructions carefully before
using the device for the first time and keep
them safe for future use.
Intended use
GUTMANN fans are only intended for use
in conjunction with GUTMANN extractor
hoods. They are designed to eliminate
cooking vapours above cookers and
cooking appliances in private households
only. Any other use will be deemed to be
improper. Improper use of GUTMANN fans
may pose a danger to persons and damage
property.
Installation
The appliance may only be installed and
connected by an authorised technician
observing all relevant regulations of the
electric utility companies and the applicable
building regulations. You must observe
these regulations when assembling the
device. The device must only be operated,
assembled, connected up to the electricity
supply, started up, and repaired by
authorised technicians. This technician will
be able to determine suitable methods for
securing the GUTMANN fan and providing
the necessary exhaust air ducting. The
choice of attachment must take account of
the weight of the GUTMANN fan and the load
exerted on the supporting surface. In the
case of unstable supporting surfaces, a
construction specialist such as a structural
engineer or architect must be consulted to
ensure the GUTMANN fan is safely
installed. Damaged appliances may not be
put into operation. Defective parts must be
replaced with genuine parts. Repairs
should only be carried out by authorised
technical staff.
Danger of injury!
The GUTMANN fan may contain sharp
edges resulting from the manufacturing
process. For this reason, safety gloves must
be worn when assembling/maintaining it.
Fire hazard!
The GUTMANN fan may only be used in
conjunction with a GUTMANN extractor
hood equipped with a high-efficiency
grease filter. Filters that are overfilled with
grease can pose a fire hazard! Please make
sure that the grease filter is cleaned and
maintained regularly.
Danger of electric shock!
The mains voltage must match the details
indicated on the type plate. The type plate
is located on the housing. Do not clean the
GUTMANN fan with a steam jet or water
pressure cleaner. The GUTMANN fan must
be disconnected from the power supply prior
to cleaning. Only connect the GUTMANN fan
to a properly installed safety socket. The
socket must be easily accessible after
installation to allow the GUTMANN fan to
be disconnected from the power supply if
necessary. If a fixed connection is used (e.g.
if a suitable wall socket is not available),
the GUTMANN fan may only be connected
by a qualified electrician. Before drilling the
mounting holes, make sure that no
electrical cables can be damaged during
drilling. The electrical connection must
enable the easy connection of the GUT-
MANN fan and must be easily accessible
at all times. Local regulations must be
observed.
Exhaust air duct
Official regulations regarding ducting of
exhaust air must be observed. The exhaust
air path must allow the easy connection of
the GUTMANN fan. The exhaust air hose
must not have any kinks. An optimum
exhaust air output is achieved if the exhaust
air path is kept as short as possible with
few bends and cross section constrictions.
Seals:
The connection to the roof or to the roof
cladding/roof surface may only be
completed by specialist installers. Leaks
are the responsibility of these specialist
installers.
