Toasting
When cooking on the TOAST function, BOTH heating elements are turned on.
It is not necessary to preheat the oven to toast but you may have more consistent
results if you do.
Open the oven door and slide oven rack into the middle position and place up to 4
slices of bread (depending on the size of the bread) on the oven rack.
Turn the temperature knob to 450°F.
Turn the function knob to TOAST. Turn the timer control knob past 20 then back
to 10 min. and watch for desired doneness. If you do not preheat the oven, the
first toasting cycle may take a little longer.
The power indicator light will come on while the timer is in use.
When the toast reaches the desired color, turn the timer to OFF and using oven
mitts or potholders, open the oven door. Slide the oven rack out with the oven
mitts or potholders.
Carefully remove the toast and repeat if desired for more toast. For best results
allow a short cool down time between toasting cycles.
Broiling
When cooking on the BROIL function, only the TOP heating element is turned on.
For best results, preheat oven with the door closed at 450°F for at least 5 minutes
before broiling.
The oven is designed to broil with the oven door slightly ajar.
Turn the temperature knob to the desired temperature between 350°F and 450°F
as desired for the optimum broiling temperature for the specific food.
Turn the function knob to BROIL. Turn the timer control knob past 20 and then
turn it to the desired broiling time up to 60 minutes. The power indicator light will
come on while the timer is in use.
Place the food on the oven pan or the oven rack in any of the rack positions so
long as food is at least 1 ½ inches from the heating element.
If the food will drip and you are using the oven rack, place the oven pan under the
oven rack and make sure the food does not extend beyond the oven pan, so drips
do not hit the heating element.
Insert the food into the oven and close the door so it is slightly ajar.
Broil the food according to the recipe or package directions and check for
doneness at the minimum suggested broiling time.
Be sure to use oven mitts or potholders to open the door. Slide the oven rack or
oven pan out using oven mitts or potholders.
Thaw frozen meats first before broiling.
