Installation overview

1. Requirements
– Repeater mode: a wireless router (e.g. Gigaset SE505 dsl/cable) has already been
installed, ready for use, and supports WDS (Wireless Distribution System).
– Access Point mode: a wireless network adapter has already been installed in your PC.
The installation procedure can be found in the product's User Guide.
– Network adapter mode: an Ethernet card has been installed and configured.
2. Only then should you install the Gigaset WLAN Repeater. The necessary steps are described
on the following pages. You will need around 10-15 minutes to complete them.
– Connect the Gigaset WLAN Repeater.
– Configure the network settings on the PCs.
– Configure the Gigaset WLAN Repeater. Select the correct mode and set other configura-
tion parameters if necessary.
3. If you are using a wireless connection, set up the connection from the wireless network
adapter to the Gigaset WLAN Repeater. This is described in the instructions for the network
adapter.

Connecting the Gigaset WLAN Repeater

Place the Gigaset WLAN Repeater in the required location. Detailed information on where
to position the device can be found in the section "Setting up the Gigaset WLAN Repeater"
in the detailed operating instructions on the CD-ROM.
Connection to a wired network (LAN), PC, games console or modem
ì
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable in the
socket marked LAN on the Gigaset WLAN
Repeater.

Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into
the device to which you wish to connect the
Gigaset WLAN Repeater. Depending on the
particular application, this could be a router, a
PC, a games console or a DSL/cable modem.
Bear in mind that, depending on the use, you will
have to make some settings via the browser-based
configuration programme of your Gigaset WLAN
Repeater. Therefore we recommend that you first
connect the device to a PC.
