Leva strap
Intended purpose
protect.Leva strap is a bandage
with a stabilizing strap system. The
product is exclusively to be used for
the orthotic fitting of the ankle joint
and only on unbroken skin or if any
wounds have been properly
covered.
Indications
All indications in which soft tissue
compression with local/local
additional pad(s) at the ankle joint is
necessary and at least one direction
of movement is restricted by
additional functional elements,
such as:
• Sprains with capsule strain
• Chronic ligament instability with
recurrent sprained ankle (twisted
ankle)
• In the second treatment phase for
upper ankle lateral collateral
ligament rupture
• Acute or chronic post-traumatic or
post-operative inflammation of
the upper and lower ankle joint
• Conservative treatment of
syndesmosis ligament injury
which does not require surgery
• Treatment of fractures that do not
require a cast
Contraindications
No general side effects are known.
However, if supports (or similar aids)
are too tight, local pressure effects
or constriction of blood vessels or
nerves may occur in individuals. If
you have any of the following
complaints please consult your
doctor before using the brace:
• Disease or injury to the skin in the
area that the brace is used on,
particularly when signs of
infection (excessive heat, swelling
or redness) are apparent.
• Paraesthesia and circulatory
disorders in the leg or foot (e.g. as
seen in diabetes)
• Lymph flow disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue which is
adjacent to the area of application
and is not related to a condition
Mode of action
The compressive knit enhances
perfusion, thus reducing effusion
and swelling. This combination of
compression and stabilisation strap
supports joint function, enhances
joint mobility and alleviates pain.
Instructions for fitting
• Grasp the middle of the support
on both sides. Pull it up over the
foot till the heel section is
properly fitted. Then pull the
support up (Fig. 1).
• Stick the strap to the velcro
surface provided (Fig. 2).
• Make an "eight" out of the
elasticated band and lead it round
the ankle joint (Figs, 3-6).
• Affix the end of the strap to the
elasticated band (Fig. 7).
Please note that the support should
be fitted for the first time as
instructed by trained specialists.
Tips on wear ing
Supports have the greatest effect
during physical activity. In principle,
the support can be worn
