ELLIPSE CUTTING
ELLIPSE CUTTING
Ellipses can be cut with a construction design in which the difference between the ellipse's major
and minor semi-axes is equal to or greater than 205mm.
PROCEDURE FOR CUTTING ELLIPSES
Establishing ellipse size
Indicate the 90° axes of the ellipse to be cut on the work piece and set the dimensions of the ellipse
(Fig. 2).
(Fig. 4) Fix the cross frame (1) to the work piece using the wood screws (13) or with double-sided
adhesive tape so that the slots of the cross frame (1) coincide perfectly with the previously found
axes (Fig. 3).
Establishing the major semi-axis
(Fig. 6) Insert the complete slider (A) into the centre of the slot of the cross frame and fit the
complete slider (B) along the major semi-axis.
Now loosen the bolt (7) of slider (A) and (B), set the required semi-axis length by moving the
extension (4) and (5) towards the centre of the slider pin (A) and tighten the bolt (7) to fix it [the
bolt (7) of the slider (B) has not yet been tightened and the rod passes freely through the slider).
