CAUTION:
To prevent accidents, make sure to turn the switch off and disconnect to the plug from the power receptacle.
1. Adjusting depth of cut (Fig 3)
- Adjust the depth of cut from 0 to 3.0mm with the depth scale (2) by simply turning the knob (3) on the front of the
tool.
- Scale graduation = 0.1mm.
NOTE:
- The depth adjusting knob can be turned only as far as 0 and 3. Do not force on the knob, or it may no longer
work.
- After finishing the work, turn the knob to the graduation 0: it will protect the planer knives.
2. Dust/Chips extraction (Fig 4)
CAUTION:
- Dusts from materials such as lead-containing coatings, some wood types, can be harmful to one's health.
Touching or breathing-in the dusts can cause allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.
- Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are considered as carcinogenic, especially in connection with wood-
treatment additives (chromate, wood preservative).
- Materials containing asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
- Prevent dust accumulation at the workplace; dusts can easily ignite.
- Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
- It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
- Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the materials to be worked.
The chip ejector (4) is reversible and chips can be ejected on either side of the machine.
- Slide the chip ejector (4) inside the machine, and then attach the chip discharge (12).
- Connect the vacuum cleaner to the chip discharge (12) with an extraction hose (not supplied).
The vacuum cleaner must be suitable for the material being worked.
3. Changing the planer blades (Fig 5, 6 & 7)
CAUTION:
- The planer blades can become very hot during working process. Before replacing, allow the blades to cool down.
- When mounting and replacing the planer blades, it is recommended to wear protective gloves.
-Tighten the blade installation bolts carefully when attaching the blades to the tool. A loose installation bolt can be
dangerous. Always check to see they are tightened securely.
- Use only the wrench provided to remove or install the blades. Failure to do so may result in overtightening or
insufficient tightening of the installation bolts. This could cause an injury.
- To install the blades, first clean out all chips or foreign matter adhering to the drum or blades.
- Use blades of the same dimensions and weight, or drum oscillation/vibration will result, causing poor planing
action and, eventually, tool breakdown.
- Unscrew the installation bolts (16) with the socket wrench, and then remove carefully the drum cover (15) and the
blades (14).
- Place the adjusting plate (17) on the blade (14) and screw on the 2 screws (23): do not tighten them.
- Place the blade on the gauge (18) so that the heel of the adjusting plate (17) flush with the back side of the
gauge, then slide the blade until its edge is perfectly flush with the inside edge of the gauge plate (24), and finally
tighten the two screws (23) on the adjusting plate.
- Slip the heel of the adjusting plate (17) into the drum groove, and then fit the drum cover (15) on it.
- Tighten all the installation bolts (16) evenly and alternately with the socket wrench.
4. Parallel guide (Fig 8 & 9)
Use the parallel stop (20) when you want to plane parallel to the edge of the workpiece.
- Fasten the guide support (19) to the left side of the tool using the supplied knob screw.
- Connect the guide support (19) to the slide of the parallel guide (20). The guide rail must always be aligned in
downward direction.
