accessories (see 'Maintenance and
cleaning').
3 Set up the appliance (see 'Preparing
the appliance for use').
4 Switch on the appliance and allow it to
become hot.
The appliance may emit a little smoke
and a characteristic smell when you
turn it on for the first time. This is
normal and will soon stop. Make sure
the appliance has sufficient ventilation.
5 Turn off the appliance and allow it to
cool down.
The appliance (heating base and frying
pan) becomes hot when it is turned on.
Allow the appliance to cool down before
moving it.
Preparing the appliance for use
• The heating base will become hot
when the appliance is turned on. We
recommend placing a heat-resistant
(non-flammable) table mat under the
appliance.
• Do not use sharp implements with the
pans, such as a metal spatula, knives
or forks. These may damage the non-
stick coating.
1 Place the heating base on a flat, stable
surface.
2 Fit the correct accessory to the heating
base.
3 Insert the plug into the plug socket.
4 Rotate the temperature-control dial
anticlockwise to turn on the appliance
and to select the desired temperature.
The temperature indicator light will now
be lit. It will take a couple of minutes for
the appliance to reach the desired
temperature. The indicator light will go
on and off whilst the appliance is in use.
This indicates that the thermostat is
working correctly and that it is keeping
the appliance at the set temperature.
