ATTENTION: connect all inputs and outputs before switching the transmitter on.
For safety reasons, every output connection that is not used must be closed with the protection cover that the
unit is equipped with.
Fig. 1 shows the connectors at the front of the SIG7624 module:
IN: optical splitter input. It is possible to connect the optical transmitter output to this connector with a proper
brace.
OUT: optical splitter output. It is possible to connect this connector to the properly connectorized fiber.
All connectors are of SC/APC type
The RF signals transmitted by fiber optics are subjected to an attenuation two times higher than the optical
attenuation of the pathway (for example optical 1dB -> 2dB electr. RF).
By considering the total gain of the transmitter and receiver (GTX + GRX), it is possible to determine the elec-
trical level of the signal at the output of the optical link.

IN
G (dB) = G TX (in dB) + G RX (in dB) total gain relevant to TX and RX modules
V OUT = RF level at the output of the receiver
V IN = RF level at the input of the transmitter
ATT OPT = optical losses of the connectors + fiber optics + loss of insertion of optical splitters, if any.
Warning : unplug the laser source before cleaning the optical splitter connectors.
Optical connectors are similar to glasses lenses and, therefore, their performance is decreased by dust,
particles, finger grease and scratches.
To clean the SC-APC optical connector:
1. Open the connections.
2. Apply a drop of cleansing liquid (pure alcohol) on the end surface and remove possible remaining particles
with compressed air.
3. Before connecting the connectors again, clean by applying a drop of cleansing liquid (pure alcohol) in the
central hole and dry with compressed air.
4. Reconnect the connectors in the adapter while avoiding any contact with the ends or any other surface
and your fingers.
Notes :
• connectors/adapter must always be protected by their covers.
• Never open the connections in humid or dusty rooms
• use only pure alcohol for cleaning operations.
• scratched connectors can damage other connectors; therefore, they must be replaced.

4.2 PRODUCT MAINTENANCE
After installing the module attach it to the mounting rack
using the screws supplied in the accessory bag. (see Fig.
3)
Installation is "plug and play" so the module is now work-
ing.
