In this operating manual, the instructions preceded by this symbol may cause personal injury or

This instrument is sensitive to electrostatic discharges.
You have just bought an ORITEL MOD 100 PIN diode modulator and we thank you for the interest you
show for our products.
To get the best use out of your instrument:
n carefully read this operating manual,
n follow the precautions for use.
n Because of the diode's sensitivity to electrostatic discharges, considerable precautions should be
taken when handling this modulator.
n When the pin diode modulator is connected to the power supply, any inversion of the power supply
output connectors may lead to the pin diodes being damaged (see § 3.3).
n An ORITEL ISO 100 isolator must be fitted between the Gunn diode oscillator and the pin diode
modulator in order to protect the oscillator against variations in the modulator's impedance, which
could lead to variations in frequency and power.
n The ferrite isolator shall be fitted in the correct direction, with the arrow pointing towards the load.
n The connecting leads and accessories shall comply with the applicable standards and shall be designed
for an overvoltage category rated voltage which is at least equal to that of the circuits on which the
measurements are carried out.
n This component's mass shall be earthed, as shall all the instruments and components which are
connected to the bench and the AC network.
n No voltage of more than 30 V in relation to the earth shall be present on the bench.
