OPERATION
Otoscope
First of all choose the size and type of speculum for the ear channel to examine. It is possible to
ask GIMA for speculums of various sizes and colors.
To position the speculum insert it in its seat A and rotate clockwise, to remove rotate counter-
clockwise and remove it from its seat A.
To switch on the light use the switch M on the upper part of the handle, after using the device
make sure the light is switched off.
Ophthalmoscope
First of all switch on the light using the switch M on the upper part of the handle.
Rotate the wheel G to select the most suitable diaphragm from the 5 available ones. Rotate the
wheel E to select the desired lens, the value of the lens is indicated in the window F.
After using the device make sure the light has been switched off.
MAINTENANCE
Periodically check the battery conditions, making sure that no sign of corrosion or
oxidation is present, in case of necessity replace them with new alkaline ones.
Carefully handle the batteries as the liquids they contain can irritate skin and eyes.
Before being used, thoroughly check the product. The same operation shall be carried out after
cleaning.
-Check that the connection between the head and the handle is perfect and that the rheostat
correctly works.
-If the light is intermittent or in case it does not turn on, check the bulb, the batteries and the
electric contacts.
In case the bulb stops working, it is possible to replace it with original spare parts.
To replace the bulb, it is necessary to take the speculum out, counter-clockwise turn the bulb
and screw the new one down (see picture). It is advisable to use only original bulbs.
Before removing the bulb, make sure that the instrument has been off for some
minutes; otherwise you run the risk of being burnt
-Check that the glass is clean; on the contrary it shall be clean with a soft cloth.
-It is advisable to always have new bulbs and batteries at disposal for the maximum light.
-The head and the handle can be cleaned with a cloth soaked in the disinfecting product, they
cannot be immersed in fluids.
The reusable speculums must be sterilized before being used again!
Do not use disposable speculums!
After use, the speculum must be removed from the head of the otoscope.
The product was designed to last a lifetime. It is resistant to most chemical products except for
M.E.K. ketons, diluting substances and substances used to remove enamel.
If the lamp is exposed to humidity, remove the batteries and dry well to avoid short-circuits.
