GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING!
This machine must be properly grounded to protect the opera-
tor from electrical shock. Read the safety instructions below
before operating this machine.
This appliance must be grounded. If it should electrically malfunction, grounding
provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric
shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding
conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that
is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
DANGER!
Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor
can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified
electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether
the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided
with the appliance. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet
installed by a qualified electrician.
Replace the plug if the grounding pin is damaged or broken.
The Green (or Green/Yellow) wire in the cord is the grounding wire. When replacing
a plug, this wire must be attached to the grounding pin only.
Extension cords connected to this machine should be 12 gauge, three-wire cords with
three-prong plugs and outlets. DO NOT use extension cords more than 50 feet (15 m)
long.

PREPARING THE SH 120 FOR USE
1
Mix shampoo according to the directions, in a separate clean container.
Note: Be sure the container is clean. Dirt in the system can cause problems in the
operation of the machine as well as blemish the carpet or upholstery being cleaned.
CAUTION!
The Solution Tank may become pressurized during use!
2
Fill the 7.5 liter (2 gallon) solution tank with the use of the funnel provided with
the machine (FIGURE A).
Note: The "bleed" tube on the side of the funnel is to release foam which would
otherwise prevent the filling of the tank.
3
Remove the Foam Outlet Port Cap and attach the foam delivery hose from the
power unit. Plug the power cord into the receptacle as shown (FIGURE B).
4
Plug the main electric power cord into an appropiate outlet as covered in the
prior section "grounding instructions".
5
Start the foam generator by moving the main power switch to the "ON" (I)
position (FIGURE C).
USING THE SH 120
CAUTION!
Before using the SH 120 on upholstery, test for color-fastness.
To test put some shampoo on a clean white cloth and work it into
the fabric in some inconspicuous place. Do not use if color
bleeds onto the white cloth!
1
Place the powerhead on what is to be cleaned and release foam for lubrication.
2
When foam appears, switch on the power brush.
3
With the brush running continuously and foam applied as needed, move the
brush over the material being cleaned (FIGURE D).
OPERATING TIPS
Do not bear down on fabrics which can be damaged, allow the brush to do the work. The
brush can be moved in a variety of patterns, dependent solely on the operator's
preference, for example; figure 8's, circles, or back-and-forth, all of which, of course,
must overlap to assure complete coverage.
AFTER USING THE SH 120
1
Disconnect powerhead and wipe hose assembly with a clean, damp cloth.
2
Always rinse the cleaning brush with clean water (to prevent color transfer),
being sure not to allow water to reach the electric motor.
3
Empty solution tank into a separate container for future use.
4
Wipe tank assembly with a clean damp cloth.
5
Store the machine indoors in a clean, dry place.
