b. Refer to section C for information on making electrical connections.
2. Surface Mounting (See Figure 1)
a. Remove the upper housing from the lower housing by removing the three
no. 8 screws.
b. Using the gasket as a template, or the dimensions shown in Figure 2, scribe
two drill-position marks on the mounting surface. Drill a 316" (4.8 mm)
diameter hole at the two outside drill position marks for mounting. Drill or
punch 34" (19.1 mm) diameter hole at the center drill position mark for wire
entry.
c. Remove the appropriate knockouts in the lower housing using a small punch.
d. Locate rubber gasket on mounting surface and set lower housing on top of
gasket. Secure light to the mounting surface using the provided mounting
hardware.
e. Refer to section C for information on making electrical connections.
C. Electrical Connections
The model AV1ST comes assembled from the factory with two color-coded leads
for wiring to a junction box.
For 120 Vac models, connect the black wire to the line side of the AC power
source and the white wire to the neutral side of the AC power source.
For 24 Vdc models, connect the black wire to the positive (+) side of the DC
power source and the red wire to the negative (-) side of the DC power source.
If desired, the factory leads can be removed and the supply connections can be
directly made to the terminal block located in the lower housing as described
below.
To avoid electrical shock hazards, do not connect to supply circuit when
power is applied.
1. Remove the three #8 screws and remove the upper housing.
2. Remove the factory field wiring leads from the terminal block.
3. Route supply wires (12 AWG to 16 AWG) into the housing through the conduit
entry.
4. Strip a maximum of 0.25" (6.4 mm) of wire insulation from the ends of the
power leads. Connect wires to terminal block by inserting the stripped ends of
the wire into the connector as far as they can travel and tightening the clamping
screw (max. tightening torque = 4.5 in-lb [0.5 N-m]).
5. Re-assemble the light and test for proper operation.
II. MAINTENANCE
SAFETY MESSAGE TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL
