FITTING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Remove the bumper and steel inner section from the vehicle. The steel
inner section will not be reused.
Only for the Variant and Vario models:
a. Remove the floor mat.
b. Remove the plastic rear panel.
c. Remove the toll holder.
d. Remove the plastic filler material at the left and right.
e. Remove the plastic protective panel, which is also fixed to the bumper,
from the underside of the the vehicle. Saw out sections from the pro-
tective panel in accordance with fig.8 "left and right".
VW Polo/VW PoloVariant:
2. Place the template for the VW Polo Classic/ Variant in the middle of
bumper on the inside, as shown in fig. 1 and fig. 2. Saw out the indica-
ted section, as shown in fig. 3.
Seat Cordoba GLX, GTI, SX 1996->:
2a.Place the template 1 in the middle of the bumper on the outside, as
shown in fig. 4 and fig. 5. Saw out the indicated section, as shown in
fig. 6.
Seat Cordoba 1997->/Seat Cordoba Vario 1997->:
2b.Place the template 2 in the middle of the bumper on the outside, as
shown in fig. 7. Saw out the indicated section, as shown in fig.7.
Seat Cordoba 10-1999->/Seat Cordoba Vario 10-1999->:

2c.Place the template 3 in the middle of the bumper on the outside, as
shown in fig. 9. Saw out the indicated section, as shown in fig.9.
3. Remove the sealant at the fixing points. Remove the rubber plugs from
the left and right of the chassis so that the back plates F and I can be
set in place. Place the towbar. Slide the mounting supports onto it at
the left and right of the chassis. Fix the towbar complete with supports
C and D at the points A using three M10 x 40 bolts with flat and spring
washers. Fix one M10 x 40 bolt with flat, spacer and spring washers at
point B. (ø28 x 10.5 x 4 between support and chassis). At points K, fix
two bolts M8x20, including flat washers, spring washers and nuts.
Dismantle the last exhaust suspension as well as the quick-lock at the
rearmost heat shield.
4. Insert back plate F at the points E using two M10 x 40 bolts with spring
washers. Insert back plate I into the left of the chassis and fix it at points
G using one M10 x 40 bolt with spring washer. At point H drill ø11mm
through the underside of the chassis. Insert contra I into the chassis
and fix it at point using H one M10 x 40 bolt with spring washer.
WARNING!!!
Replace the bumper and carry out the following instructions with care.
When fitting the ball hitch and socket plate, ensure the bumper is not
damaged. With the Cordoba, the two M12 x 75/31.2 fixing bolts with flat
washers and self-locking nuts can be fitted from inside by pulling the
centre of the bumper downward.
With the Polo, the front fixing bolt should be fitted from inside, and the
rearmost fixing bolt fitted from the outside. Tighten the bolts fitted to the
torque shown in the table.
