ELECTRONIC CONTROL
WARNING: Do not operate the machine if
the electronic device is faulty, because this means
operating at increased speed (rpm). The event of fault
can be identified by the lack of soft start or the impos-
sibility to adjust the speed.
Model WPK1400W features full-wave tachoconstant
electronics for:
- Soft start and restriction of the starting current;
- Speed pre-selection and control and maintaining con-
stant rpm upon overloading according Table 1;
- Brief overload protection (upon jamming the wheel). To
resume operation release the ON/ OFF switch and then
press it again;
- Continuous overload protection (the thermal protec-
tion switches the machine off to protect the motor from
inadmissible overheating). Upon actuating the thermal
protection the machine becomes disabled. To resume
operation release the ON/OFF switch and then press it
again.
- Non-self starting safety (NVR) after restoring the mains
supply. To resume operation release the ON/OFF switch
and then press it again.

WARNING: Choose the speed appropriate
for the application in advance by rotating the thumb-
wheel 3, according to Table 1. Select the proper ac-
cessory suitable for the specific operation and speed.
Do not operate at speed exceeding 1500 min
polishing.
Stabilising the speed
The electronic device stabilises the pre-selected speed
(rpm) constantly in order to limit the spindle speed reduc-
tion under variable load values.
Thermal protection
To protect the power tool from inadmissible thermal over-
load (motor damage) during extended operation at over-
load the machine is equipped with thermal protection.
The electronic device switches off the machine before
the temperature reaches the critical value and the ma-
chine switches from operating to safety mode.
Under safety mode the motor rotates at lower speed to
enhance cooling but the machine cannot be operated.
After a period of 3-5 minutes the machine cools down
and can be operated again. To resume operation first
turn off and the turn on the ON/OFF switch.

Maintenance
WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged before attempting to per-
form inspection or maintenance.
BRUSH REPLACEMENT
This power tool is equipped with auto-stop brushes.
When the carbon brushes are worn out, the machine
switches itself off. In this case both brushes must be
replaced simultaneously with genuine brushes at
NORMFEST service centre for warranty and post-war-
ranty service.
GENERAL INSPECTION
Regularly inspect all fasteners and ensure they are
properly tightened. Should any of the screws be loose,
retighten it immediately to avoid hazards.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this
has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order
to avoid a safety hazard.
CLEANING
For safe operation always keep the machine and its ven-
tilation slots clean.
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has
entered the ventilation slots and the grills around the
switches. Use a soft brush and/or air jet to remove any
accumulated dust. Wear safety glasses to protect your
eyes whilst cleaning.
Exterior plastic parts may be cleaned with a damp cloth
and mild detergent if necessary.
When operating in heavily dusty environment (cutting
stone) the ventilation slots and the switch slider of the
machine running at no load must be obligatory cleaned
after each shift (every 8 h operation) by compressed air
or by gently tapping it near the ventilation slots with non-
metal object (Fig.1a,1b).
WARNING: Never use alcohol, petrol or other
cleaning agent. Never use caustic agents to clean
plastic parts.
WARNING: Water must never come into con-
tact with the tool.
IMPORTANT! To assure product safety and reliability,
repairs, maintenance and adjustment (including brush
inspection and replacement) should be performed by
certified service centres or other qualified service or-
ganisations, always using genuine replacement parts.
