Connecting the trailer control module
16. Secure the trailer control module (Fig. 1/4) in the left-hand area of vehicle's rear end using
some velcro tape.
17. Plug the 12-pin plug and the 18-pin plug into the trailer control module.
18. Connect the brown wires with the eyelet to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/2).
19. Insert the supplied miniature relay into the relay socket (Fig. 1/3). Secure the relay socket on
the cable harness using cable ties.
20. - 2005 :
Connect the 2-pin plug to the matching counterpart on the vehicle's cable harness under the
right tail light (Fig. 1/11).
2006 - :
Connect the auxiliary cable to the 2-pin connector below the tail light on the right (Fig. 1/11).
Lay the red cable in a suitable manner under the rear seat bench, plug it into the free A2
compartment of the gray 24-pin connector (Fig. 1/1) and lock it in place.
Special information concerning vehicles with parking distance control (PDC)
On vehicles with PDC it is possible to deactivate the PDC for trailer operation. Already included in
models up to 2005!
For models as of 2006:
21. Lay the brown/white cable to the PDC control unit (Fig. 1/10).
22. Open the 16-pin plug and insert the contact of the brown/white cable into compartment 5.
23. Close the plug and plug it back into the PDC control unit.
Note: If the vehicle is not equipped with a PDC system, insulate the brown/white cable and
secure it properly.
24. Only for 13-pin trailer socket:
Using the 3-pin connector for the constant plus extension kit (Fig. 1/5), the function "Constant
plus" or "Constant plus and charging lead" can be retrofitted.
The constant plus extension kit is available in specialist shops under the Westfalia part no.
300 027 300 113.
The constant plus and charge lead extension kit is available in specialist shops under the
Westfalia part no. 300 025 300 113.
Checking correct operation
25. Reconnect the ground of the vehicle's battery.
26. Check the trailer function with the help of a suitable test instrument (with load resistors) or
with the help of a trailer.
27. Secure all cables using cable ties.
28. Reattach any parts removed for installation.
