The menus, submenus, and setting options are numbered. These numbers are called shortcuts.

the menu you want to access. Repeat for submenus.
• MESSAGES
If you have subscribed to a message service, you can send and receive
messages to compatible phones that are also subscribed to a message service.
Linked messages
Your phone can send and receive long text messages (network service). Text messages that
exceed 160 characters are automatically split into multiple messages and sent as a series.
The series of messages is linked by the compatible phone when received and displayed as a
single SMS message. For this feature to work properly, the receiving phone must also
support linked messages.
While you write a message, the number of available characters and the current part number
of linked message (for example, 120/2) are shown in the top right corner of the display.
Using special (Unicode) characters, such as ë, â, á, ì, takes up more space. If there are
special characters in your message, the indicator may not show the message length
correctly. Before the message is sent, the Nokia 2600 phone tells you if the message
exceeds the maximum length allowed for one message. To cancel sending, select Cancel,
or save the message in the inbox.
Write messages
To send a message, the phone number of your message center must be saved in the phone.
See "Message settings" on page 22.
1
Select Menu > Messages > Write message, and enter the message.
The number of available characters and the current part number are shown on the
top right of the display.
