Assembly
Danger of explosion if incorrectly assembled!
Incorrect assembly of the valve system in explosive
areas may produce sparks. The valve system then
becomes an ignition source and may cause explosions.
O Always observe the local installation regulations
during assembly in explosive areas.
O Only assemble with the valve system in non-
explosive atmospheres.
O Use only non-sparking tools if you still need to deal
with the presence of an explosive atmosphere.
Danger of explosion due to circulating currents!
Stray magnetic fields may cause circulating currents, e.g.
near electrical drives with asymmetrical loads, during arc
welding, if the ground is conducted via the system and not
via a 0 V line, or if there is cathodic corrosion protection.
O Make sure that there is protection against the
possible effects of circulating currents.
Preparing for assembly
4. Let the valve system acclimate itself for several hours
before installation, otherwise water may condense in
the housing.
5. Make sure there is no contamination in the tubing or
valve housing.
6. Make sure that all relevant system parts are not under
voltage or pressure before you assemble the valve
system. Protect the system against being switched on.
7. Check that the valve system matches your order using
the material number printed on the housing.
Installation requirements
Danger of explosion with no impact protection!
Formation of sparks due to impacts on the product, e.g.
by falling objects.
O In explosive environments, make sure that the valve
system is installed in a manner that protects it from
all types of mechanical damage.
Danger of explosion due to UV radiation!
UV radiation may overheat the surface of the device and
damage seals.
O Always install the valve system in an area protected
from UV radiation.
Mounting orientation
Any mounting orientation may be used.
O Ensure that enough free space is left for the electrical
and pneumatic connections so that the permissible

minimum bending radii for the cables and tubes are
adhered to.
Fastening the valve system
Danger of explosion due to incorrect fastening!
The valve system may not be fastened to rails in
explosive areas.
O Always fasten the valve system to a mounting plate
in explosive areas.
Hazardous movements due to incorrect fastening!
Other system parts may be damaged by uncontrolled
device movements.
O Make sure that the device is securely fastened.
O Install the valve system in your system in a manner
where the pneumatic connections and manual
override are always accessible.
O For the precise dimensions, please see dimensional
drawings

– L = n * b + 94
– LB = n * b + 40
– LA = n * b + 32
– n = number of valve positions
– b = width of valve positions (27.0 – 27.25 mm)
O Fasten the valve system with four M5x18 screws or
longer, DIN 912 (not included in the delivery contents)
inserted through the holes of both end plates.
Tightening torque: 6 Nm
Electrical connection
Danger of explosion due to damage to the connection
cables!
Short circuits and disruptions may occur.
O Always lay connection cables so they are not sharply
bent.
The valves in the CD01-PA can be controlled via a bus link
or a single connection.
O Lay the cables so that no one can trip over them.
O Only use tested cables. This will rule out the possibility
of a reverse polarization.
The nuts on the connection plug must be tightened with a
tightening torque of at least 0.6 Nm.
Connecting the VDS bus coupler
You can use the CD01-PA valve system for a VDS bus
coupler if it has contact bridges for a bus coupler.
