Operating instructions for
air curtain systems
1.

Intended use

The L-Series air curtain is exclusively intended to create air flows and/or air curtains to separate different air
masses in the entrances of buildings protected from humidity. Incoming cold air is met with a reverse air flow
which prevents the room cooling. The air curtain is intended for freely suspended installation in a visible area,
directly in front of the door, with suction above; however it can be integrated in a suspended ceiling where space
permits.
As operator you must take care that during installation the system fulfils the requirements of the Machinery Di-
rective 2006/42/EC. This means, for example:

The system can only be set up, connected, started and maintained by qualified persons (as specified in
Chapter 4).

The operating instructions must be available during installation, be read by qualified persons; your own em-
ployed persons must be trained and the instructions must be kept in immediate vicinity of the system.

For operation in an environment where there is a risk of fire, the operator must take special safety and fire
protection measures which correspond to the local fire regulations.
The system may not be put into operation if these requirements have not been satisfied.
Intended use also includes:

The exclusive use of original spare parts. These parts have been especially designed for this system. It is not
possible to guarantee that third party parts have been designed and manufactured to comply with load and
safety requirements.

The fact that parts and special equipment not shipped (and/or released) by Teddington Luftschleieranlagen
GmbH are not approved for use with the system.
If the machine is not used as intended it is not possible to guarantee the safe operation of the
machine. Teddington Luftschleieranlangen GmbH shall not be liable for any personal injury or
damage to property resulting from incorrect use; the operator shall bear responsibility for this.

Improper use

The air curtain is not intended for any types of use other than those listed above and such types of use will be
considered to be improper!
The following in particular are not permitted:

to install, put into operation, use and maintain the air curtain system other than as specified in these operating
instructions,

to implement any structural modifications to the air curtain system which might influence operational safety
without the consent of Teddington Luftschleieranlagen GmbH,

to use the air curtain system in potentially explosive environments as it does not comply with the ATEX
Directive,

to store fire accelerants within a five metres of the system (risk of flying sparks, electrostatic discharge and
grounding).
