Notes to the user

Validity
This guide describes the installation and operation of the
configuration software for the following BTL
magnetostrictive linear position sensors:

BTL7-C/E508/509/512/513-...
The illustrations in the manual are for the B style, but the
software can be used to display another style, depending
on which BTL is connected. Depending on the style,
windows or menu elements may also be hidden if the
connected BTL does not support the respective functions.

Symbols and conventions
Instructions are indicated by a preceding triangle. The
result of an action is indicated by an arrow.

Action sequences are numbered consecutively:

Keys are set in angle brackets, e.g. "Confirm by pressing
<Enter>".
Key combinations are buttons which are pressed
simultaneously. These are joined by a plus sign,
e.g. <Ctrl> + <O>.
Buttons are written in small caps, e.g. U
Menu commands are joined with a greater-than sign, e.g.
"Settings > Options" stands for the menu command
"Options" from the "Settings" menu.
Note, tip
This symbol indicates general notes.

The individual signal words mean:
The general warning symbol in conjunction with the
signal word DANGER identifies a hazard which, if not
avoided, will certainly result in death or serious
injury.

PC.

10 MB available hard disk space
USB interface
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 7 (1.7.0) or
higher installed (download at http://java.com/getjava)
With 64-bit operating systems, the 32-bit Java
version must be installed.
