Curved surfaces can also make it more difficult to reflect enough light in the direction of the tool for a
measurement to be taken.
3.12.2.4 Transparent surfaces or surfaces that absorb light
It is generally possible to measure distances to transparent or semi-transparent materials, e.g. liquids,
polystyrene foam, etc.. However, as light penetrates these materials, measuring errors may occur.
3.12.2.5 Disruption between the tool and the measuring target
Measuring errors can occur if, for example, measurements are taken through glass panes or other objects
such as dust or aerosols are located between the laser source and the measuring target.

4 Introduction to the measuring application

4.1.2 Measuring with the help of the trigger, timer and aiming camera
Before taking a measurement, you can activate the fol-
lowing assistants to provide support for distance mea-
surements using the
Triggers provide support by automatically taking a
measurement when distance measurements have to
be taken at an angle which is exactly horizontal or
vertical, or when the longest or shortest distance
within a continuous measurement sequence has to
be determined.
Timers provide the option of taking a measurement
3, 5, 10 or 15 seconds after the measure button is
pressed.
Measuring target tracking using the aiming camera
provides support when aiming at measuring targets
that are difficult to see.
