General instructions for use

2.2 Position of the fall arrester
UTILISATION FOR VERTICAL MOVEMENTS
The fall arrester must be positioned above the opera-
tor. In ail cases, the work angle of the cable must never
be greater than 30° (n° 4). The operator must take care
never to move iaterally through a distance x greater
than 1/3 the height of the empty space h, compared
to the axis of the fall arrester (n° 5). Thèse spécifications
are intended to limit the phenomenon of swinging in
the evenî of a fall.
UTILISATION FOR TERRACE WORK
(see terrace drawing above). When used for terrace
work, STOPMAX VISION must be assocîated with its
sling (length 2 m - 6 ft. 8 in. - réf. 1009335). This has to
be connected to the free end of the STOPMAX VISION
cable and the other end to the fall arrester hooking
point of the harness by connectors in compliance with
EN 362. The STOPMAX VISION must be installed at least
3 m (10 ft.) from the edge to be made safe and the clea-
rance must be greater than 3 m (10 ft.). Before this type
of use, perform visually inspect the edge to make sure
thaï it does not show any roughness (sharp pebbles,
pièces of métal...). As an example, the surface condition
should be of the same quality as a breeze block.
The maximum lateral movement rule and the 30° limit
remain applicable.
For this type of work, STOPMAX VISION can be located
at the levei of the feet of the operator
2.3 Installation
Link the extremity C of anti-fall cable to the anti-fall
harness by means of the connector (EN 362 standard),
without any other intermediary élément (apart from
terrace work see §2.2). Connection with the harness
must only be made using the buckles of the harness
designed for this pur-pose (refer to method of using
the harness which détails this point).
2.4 Space Clearance
High-point (anchored above the user's head): allow at
least 2.10m under the user's feet.
Dorsal-point (anchored below shoulder level): allow at
least 2.80m under the user's feet
Low-point use (anchored at foot level): allow at least
