Pulse indicator light
The pulse indicator light flashes whenever the
unit delivers a voltage pulse to the fence
(normally every two seconds).
Battery safety and
information
When fully charged, the battery is capable of
powering the unit for one week with no sunlight.
To conserve the battery, switch the unit off when
it is not being charged by the sun.
In some locations, it may be necessary to turn off
the unit during the winter's darkest months until
the weather improves.
To avoid damage to the battery, the battery
voltage should not be allowed to drop below
3.7 V at any time.
The integrated solar panel can fully charge a flat
battery in a few days when the unit is switched
off and there is adequate sunlight. Otherwise,
the battery can be removed from the unit and
charged using a specialized 4 V sealed lead-acid
battery charger. The 4.5 Ah battery charging
current should be set to a maximum of 1 A on
the battery charger.
Warning!
The battery must be disconnected
and removed from the unit before connecting
it to a battery charger.
Do not dispose of the battery in a land-fill or in a
fire.
If battery leakage is suspected, handle the unit
with care. Put on vinyl protective gloves, turn the
unit off and place it in a protective plastic bag.
Return the unit and battery to your local dealer.
The battery must only be replaced with a 4 V,
4.5 Ah sealed rechargeable battery. Do not use a
non-rechargeable battery! Contact your local
dealer if you are unsure.
Maintenance and storage
Clean the solar panel when required using a soft
cloth and mild soapy water only. This will ensure
that the solar panel is able to charge the battery
properly.
When transporting the unit, protect the solar
panel to prevent the plastic surface from being
scratched or damaged.
If the unit is stored without being used for a
period of time, the battery will self-discharge
and may become damaged within a few months.
To store the unit, switch it off and store it in a
safe place where the sun can still shine on the
solar panel each day to keep the battery
charged. If this is not possible, then the battery
should be disconnected from the unit and stored
fully charged. The battery must be re-charged
every six months.
