1. General
Indirectly-heated upright cylinders with up to two fi xed welded tube heat exchangers to the
domestic water heater. Complete with thermal insulation, side observation port and Mg/impressed-
current anode. Can be combined with all modern heating systems, with side-mounted inspection
port that can also be used to connect additional heat sources (electric heating etc.). High-quality
enamel fi nish as per DIN 4753/3. Robust, installation-friendly construction, equipped with
thermometer and port for temperature sensor/thermostat. Foot-height adjustment standard on all
models from 750 l, available on request for models with lower capacity.

3. Installing and operating the cylinder
Read these instructions carefully before commencing installation. For any additional questions,
please consult our customer service department (see contact details).
Installation, commissioning and maintenance must be carried out by specialists as per the
applicable regulations (including EN 1717, DIN 1988, EN 12828 and VDI 2035 regulations for local
distributors, country-specifi c rules and regulations) in a frost-free area, on a surface capable of
holding the fully-fi lled cylinder.
A means of draining must be fi tted to the mains water feed. We recommend fi tting an Airfi x
diaphragm-expansion vessel to the mains water feed pipe.
The TW safety valve must be fi tted in an easily accessible place as it needs to be inspected
regularly, and must be fi tted with a drain connection (see mains water connection diagram). A plate
bearing the following legend must be affi xed close to the safety valve blow-off pipe or on the safety
valve itself as appropriate:
For safety reasons, it may be necessary for water to escape from the blow-off pipe while the
system is heating up. Do not shut off or obstruct the blow-off pipe.
Before commissioning, please check that the Mg anode is properly earthed (if a separate earth
connection is available) and fl ush the entire water-heating system. If using an impressed current
anode (standard from 1500 l), please consult the accompanying operating manual. If using
fi nned-tube heat exchangers, insulation joints must be used (see Flamco cylinder accessories).
Additional electric heaters must be fi tted as per the instructions supplied; they must be regularly
inspected and serviced. Only additional electric heaters with potential equalization resistance may
be used
(see the manufacturer's documentation for the possibility of using fi nned-tube heat exchangers in
combination with electric heaters).
Unused connections must be professionally sealed. Make sure that condensation, which could
cause damage, cannot build up in unused coiled pipes.
The seal tightness of the system as a whole must be checked under normal operating conditions
and during maintenance and, if necessary, the fl ange couplings must be tightened. The safety
valve must be checked at regular intervals.
The cylinder must be included in the potential equalisation.
Temperature control/gauge:
Up to 500 l: The temperature sensor in the control unit of the heater and, if applicable, the solar
controller and/or the sensor of the integrated thermostat (if fi tted) are fi tted into the vertical
immersion sleeve under the control box with the clamping spring supplied. The height of the
component determines the switching point for reheating. In cylinders with an operating
temperature above 55 °C, the sensor should be positioned above the respective water supply
connection. The thermometer's remote sensor is fi tted into place above the component (approx. 20
cm down) with two clamping springs. The clamping springs must be internally attached to the
sensors in such a way that their attachment cannot interfere with readings. The immersion sleeve
can accommodate up to three sensors.
750 and 1000 l: The sensors can be positioned individually using the sensor connecting block;
however, this depends on the requirements of the boiler/solar unit manufacturer. The particular
contours of the insulation may make it necessary to install the sensors on the water supply side or
move them there. The temperature can be read from the thermometer supplied. It is to be fi tted on
the front of the unit in the G½ fi tting.
