INTENDED USE
3M™ Face shields when used as part of an approved system are designed to protect the
wearer against impacts to the eye and face, both from the front and the side.
3M™ Face shields mentioned in this user instruction are compatible for use with the 3M™
G500 Headgear or 3M™ V5 Linkage System.
3M™ Mesh Face shields meet the requirements of EN1731:2006, Mesh type eye and
face protectors.
^ Particular attention should be given to warning statements where indicated.
^ WARNINGS
Always be sure that the complete product is:
- Suitable for the application;
- Fitted correctly;
- Worn during all periods of exposure;
- Replaced when necessary.
Proper selection, training, use and appropriate maintenance are essential in order for
the product to help protect the wearer from impact hazards.
Failure to follow all instructions on the use of these personal protection products
and/or failure to properly wear the complete product during all periods of exposure
may adversely affect the wearer's health, lead to severe or life threatening illness or
permanent disability.
For suitability and proper use follow local regulations, refer to all information supplied
or contact a safety professional or 3M on 0870 60 800 60 (UK) or 1800 320 500
(Ireland).
Check apparatus is complete, undamaged and correctly assembled. Any damaged or
defective parts must be replaced with original 3M spare parts before use.
Eye protectors against high speed particles worn over standard opthalmic spectacles
may transmit impact energy, creating a hazard to the wearer.
Certain chemicals can cause damage to these products.

Visors marked 'S' should not be used for protection if there is a foreseeable risk from
hard or sharp flying particles.
Mesh face shields do not provide protection against liquid splash (including molten
metals), hot solids, electrical hazards, infrared or ultraviolet radiation.
Protective goggles must be worn when there is a risk of injury to the eyes by particles
that may penetrate the face shield.
APPROVALS
These products meet the requirements of the European Community Directive 89/686/EEC
(Personal Protective Equipment Directive) and are thus CE marked.
Certification under Article 10, EC Type-Examination, has been issued for these products
by Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH), Topeliuksenkatu 41aA, FIN-00250
Helsinki, Finland (Notified Body number 0403).

Basic use
^ If the face shield and the frame are not both marked with the same symbol, the
lowest level applies to the complete face protector.
PREPARATION FOR USE
Inspect the product carefully before each use. Replace any parts that show signs of
damage such as scratches or cracks, or if the wires in the mesh are damaged or have
come apart.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
The product should be cleaned regularly using a mild solution of detergent in warm water.
STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION
Do not store the product in direct sunlight or at high temperatures.
When not in use, it should be stored in a cool, dark location to prevent the material from
ageing.
The recommended maximum shelf life of the product is 5 years from the date of
manufacture.
The original packaging is suitable for transporting the product throughout the European
Union.
