INTRODUCTION
Your Roberts 10-412 is precision engineered and manufactured to provide years of dependable service.
Die cast aluminum parts are hand finished to ensure precise operation and appearance. Each 10-412 is
fully inspected for proper operation.
Knee Kickers are designed to be used in residential and light commercial installations. Professional
installers and industry associations such as the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) recommend the use of
power stretchers on large jobs and for heavy carpeting material. Colored 10-412 Kickers are finished with
baked epoxy enamel, which provides a hard protective coating.
LENGTH ADJUSTMENT
The 10-412 Knee Kicker adjusts from 17.5" to
21.5" to suit the individual installer's preference
and unique job conditions. To adjust the
Kicker, depress the steel trigger at the front
portion, then pull the rubber bumper and
channel assembly out to the desired setting.
MAKE SURE THE TRIGGER IS FULLY SEATED
IN THE CLOSEST "STOP", AND THAT THE
REAR PART OF THE TRIGGER IS FLUSH WITH
THE CASTING. Test the security of the trigger
bypulling back and forth on the bumper.
VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT
The large steel teeth can be adjusted to suit
different types of carpet and carpet backings by
rotating the adjustment dial on the front of the
Knee Kicker. The teeth can be adjusted from
the fully retracted position for light carpet and
backings, to extending 1/2" for heavy carpet
and backings. Select the pin depth setting that
is best for your job.
BUMPER
The dense foam rubber bumper is designed to cushion the impact to the installer's knee, and must be
maintained in perfect condition. The rubber bumper can be mounted in four positions to distribute the
wear evenly, by removing the four mounting screws, rotating the bumper, then reattaching. A 50%
thicker bumper is available from Roberts Distributors if more cushioning is desired. (Order part 10-422-
99) Do not use worn or damaged rubber bumpers as injury might result. Order a replacement bumper.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

1.
Remove lint and carpet pile from the nap grip occasionally with a small screwdriver to keep the nap
grips clear. This will maintain the grip's ability to engage the carpet nap.
2.
Apply a light, white grease on occasion to the channel to keep it operating smoothly. Wipe off excess
grease before using the Kicker.
3. Give your Kicker the care and protection you would to any precision professional tool. Many
installers wrap their kickers in a heavy cloth or towel to protect the finish from being chipped or
dented by other tools.
