Safety
C-PAK weighs approx. 1500 kg. Any dust in the
dust collector will add to this weight. To lift the C-
PAK, use lifting slings in the four lifting eyes or
use a forklift truck. Make sure that lifting is carried
out safely with approved and faultless lifting
equipment.
The electric power cable must match mains fuses
installed to ensure the cable is safely protected.
Do not use a damaged cable.
Do not start the unit from inside the container when
the container doors are shut. In certain operational
conditions, an under pressure is created in the
container and this can make it difficult to open the
doors without first stopping the unit
The belt guard must never be removed except for
maintenance work on the transmission.
Maintenance must be undertaken by qualified
personnel. When the work is finished the guard
must be replaced. The figures in this manual wit-
hout the guard in place are to show components
and do not imply that the unit should ever be
run without the guard.
Description
C-PAK is a modular design and consists of a vacuum
unit, dust collector and electrical equipment put
together in a robust steel container. The main
modules are the same as those used in larger statio-
nary plants from Nederman High Vacuum Systems.
The vacuum unit has the same electric motor,
high pressure fan, transmission and associated
equipment that is installed in stationary VAC 20
units. The electric starter is identical to High
Vacuum Starter for fixed installations. The dust col-
lector is normally a FlexFilter with a cyclone insert
or with a bag filter insert.
The documentation for C-PAK is based on the
documentation for the standard modules installed,
modules which are manufactured in large series.
This results in the complete set of documentation
consisting of several different documents. The
selection differs somewhat depending on how the
relevant C-PAK unit is designed.
C-PAK is used where there is a need for a powerful
and mobile suction plant, e.g. in shipyards or

If damage to the fan or its bearings is suspec-
ted or if it rotates unevenly, the unit must be
stopped immediately for inspection by maintenan-
ce personnel.
The thermal switches in the unit should never be
disabled.
Disconnect the electricity supply and com-
pressed air supply before servicing.
Under some conditions the fan can reach a high
temperature. It should be allowed to cool before
inspection is undertaken, to avoid burns.
Use approved breathing protection when empty-
ing the dust collector bin and when servicing the
collector.
Use hearing protection when servicing and tes-
ting the unit.
Read the enclosed manuals for the standard com-
ponents that are included in C-PAK.
building sites. Once you have connected the power
cable, compressed air and suction hoses, C-PAK is
ready to use.
C-PAK is always equipped with a so-called "start-up"
valve, SUV 200, which makes it possible to Y/D-start
C-PAK, even if several suction hoses are connected
during the starting process. Moreover, there is nor-
mally a temperature control valve, TAV 50 MV, which
opens and cools the fan if overheated. How these
valves are connected to the starter is shown in figure
6. (In exceptional cases, the ASC option is mounted
and replaces TAV 50, see Function.)
The fan's bearings are protected by 2 resettable thermal
switches, RTS, which are connected to the starter
as shown in figure 7. The
ch, CAS, is also included in this circuit.
The smaller C-PAK 20-1500C unit has a flow restric-
tor, FR 160, that prevents the motor overloading if
the air flow is too large.
