Method of operation and application
The clamping unit HMPL−...−KP blocks the
clamping rod 5 by means of friction. The
clamping rod is connected to the guide tube
of the linear module via the front plate. A
spring in the clamping unit pushes two clamp
ing jaws apart. When the clamping jaws are
pushed apart, they are tilted on the clamping
rod. When compressed air connection 6 is
pressurized, the clamping jaws are positioned
in relation to the clamping rod so that the
piston rod of the linear module can move free
ly. You can loosen the clamp manually by
pressing the manual override 1.
The clamping unit HMP−...−KP is designed for holding the guide rod of a vertically
fitted Festo HMP−... linear module. Clamping with the HMP−...−KP when the guide
tube is moving (braking) is not permitted.
Using the HMP−...−KP when there is a sudden
pressure drop in the complete system is only
permitted if a functional test is carried out
afterwards (see Operation").
Except when there is a sudden pressure drop
in the complete system, clamping may only be
undertaken when the piston is in the end
positions of the linear module, referred to in
the following as the parking position (e. g.
when the end position is reached).
The stationary clamped piston rod in a par
king position may only be pressurized in
chamber K
This is to prevent the piston from moving to
an unpressurized chamber when clamping is
released.
