FuelFilter
Gasolineanditsvapors are e×tremelyflammable andexplosive.Fire or
explosioncan causesevereburns or death.
Keep gasoline awayfrom sparks, o penflames,pilot lights,heat,andother
ignitionsources.
Check fuellines,tank,cap,andfittings frequentlyforcracks or leaks. R eplace
if necessary.
Beforereplacing the fuelfilter, drainthe fuel tank asperthe instructions
below.
Donot drainfuel whenthe engineishot.Allow theengineadequate time to
cool.Drain fuel into anapproved container o utdoors, a wayfromopenflame.
Drainanylargevolumeoffuel from thetank bydisconnecting t he fuel line
fromthe in-linefuel filter nearthe engine.
Remove t he fuel linefromthe In-lineside(sidetowards the fuel tank)of the
fuelfilter.
Replacement partsmustbethe sameandinstalledinthe samepositionas
the originalparts.
If fuelspills,wait until it evaporates b efore startingengine.
Beforereplacing the fuelfilter, drainthe fuel tank.Otherwise, fuelcanleak
out andcause afire or explosion.
To Drain the fuel:
1.
Locate thefuel filter,whichisrouted onthe left side of theenginebetween
thefueltankandthe carburetor, andmaybeattached tothe engine with atie
strap.Cut t hetie strap, i f present, t henpinchthe in-lineclamponthefuel filter
withapairof pliers, s lidetheclampupthe fuelline.Pull t hefuel linefreefrom
thefilter andplace the open endof the lineintoanapproved container t o drain
thefuel.
To change the fuel filter:
1.
Usepliersto squeeze the tabson the otherclamp(theout-linesideof the
fuelfilter), thenslidethe clampawayfrom the fuelfilter. Twistandpullthe
fuel lineoff of thefuel filter.SeeFigure12.

Check thefuel linesforcracks or leaks.Replace i f necessary.
3.
Replace t he fuel filter with an originalequipmentreplacement filter. Call
1-800-659-5917 t o purchase t he originalequipment r eplacement f ilter.
4.
Secure the fuel lineswiththe clamps.
AirCleaner
Theairfilter systemuses acylindrical c artridge.
1.
Remove t he fasteners (A)andthe air filter cover(B).SeeFigure 13.
2.
Toremove the filter (C),lift the endof the filter andthenpullthe filter off
the intake (D).
3.
Toloosen debris,gentlytap the filter onahardsurface. I f the filter is
excessively dirty, replace with a newfilter.
4.
Installthe filter onthe intake.Push the endof thefilter into the baseas
shown.Makesurefilter fitssecurely in the base.
Installairfilter coverandsecure with fasteners.
