Removing the Printer Ribbon
If there is paper under the print head -
Remove the top door.
From the LCD main menu.

The print head has to back away from the striker bar to provide
clearance for the removal of the printer ribbon.
The print head automatically backs away from the striker bar any
time the printer is turned on and there is no paper under the
print head.
Press the PARK/PATH key. The printer should retract the paper,
and the LCD should say
Top Door Removal
WARNING: If the printer has been printing for a while, the
print head may be HOT!
It is usually more convenient to park the paper when removing
and installing a ribbon, but if the paper has not been parked, the
needed print head gap for ribbon removal may be obtained by
using the following procedure.
Select Head G:Ribbn Chg to open the print gap for
removing and installing a ribbon. To remove the
ribbon, grasp the ribbon cartridge and gently but
firmly pull up until the cartridge releases and the
ribbon cartridge can be lifted out of the printer.
Carefully remove the ribbon guide from the print
head.
To install a new ribbon, follow the instructions
beginning on page 6 of this guide.
